its the same reason he never did RTT on any tours I never thought of it like that. Interesting... There are clips on YouTube of him practicing Remember The Time for the tour. In fact those are the only clips of him singing that song live, lol. yeah and during practice, he couldnt do the moves right lol. watch the RTT video. notice how u barely see him at all, they mostly show the dancers

Those moves were complicated for real. If Mike had pulled it off that'll been great but that was foreign to him. He was used to doing what he did during the "Thriller" and "Bad" stages though he hasn't done much in-line dancing in his videos since.

It's funny how at some parts he totally stops lip-syncing all together...he was even smiling and looked to be laughing during a part of the song when he should have been singing. Man, MJ I like his little bits of effort though...his dancing from the chair was cute. I have to admit I was a little distracted by his constant nose rubbing...did he have a cold too, because the only people who I see who rub their nose that much are people with a runny nose or people who put shit up their nose... Stopping before I get beat down and moonwalked over by a MJ fan. His hair looked fierce though and RTT is still one of my favorite MJ songs...right up there with "I Wanna Rock With You" and "Smooth Criminal". Prince Rogers Nelson

I find this performance hilarious. I love it. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

I can't think of anyone today that would get such a roaring response for sitting on his/her ass,and lip-synching and wearing a gold vest. ...so amazing to see, MJ used to be "da man!" yeah his fans will take anything they can get nowadays

I remember this performance.... I do.. and i probably was begging and crying to stay up late so i could watch it... I remember the days as a lil kid... it was so much fun.... and we would always cry and ask my mom if i could watch Michael perform... if michael was on tv and i somehow found out about it... I would beg... but most of the time... My mom would keep a look out for michael jackson.. cause she is a fan too.....
I miss the 90's..... so much... it seemed everything was at a slower pace...

lol, at last someone asks the blindingly obvious question. It shows how myopic his fans are that none of them even think to mention that. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

A lot of MJ fans do not like the fact that he lip synchs and I thought it was lazy of him not to even attempt to sing live that night. Man, Mike just didn't wanna do it!
He was cool just sitting there but that's not the Michael Jackson I wanted. The best thing he did that night was show up, lol. But he had to claim an accident caused him not to dance, lol. He just didn't wanna dance that night... or sing nonetheless.

Without any explanation or excuse whatsoever! Or show up and simply not perform? He did that numerous times before.. he doesn't have to fake anything to do that!

Well, he does know the dance routine as the clips of him practicing in Neverland for the Dangerous Tour demonstrates (he even sings the song live). But for some reason "Remember The Time" was left out of the tour. As for him not singing live or dancing for this particular award show, yes, it is wrong. But I think it is cool to watch this and look back on a time when he had enough star power to generate applause whilst just sitting on a chair. [Edited 10/8/07 15:42pm]

Even in an imperfect moment, he was perfect if that shit makes any fucking sense. P.S., lord, people are sensitive around here.
