bowie's 2007 reissue of young americans i know a few of you must have it. how is it? i didn't even know it was released until just now. last i knew there were numerous setbacks and date changes for its release.
young americans is one of my favorite bowie releases, surely the most accessible of my favorites compared to low, lodger, or scarey monsters. is this worth the money? i have the 1991 (check the year in that one, not too sure) reissue already. how does this differ? | |

I would KILL for a Station to Station reissue... Young Americans was originally scheduled for a 2005 30th anniversary release, but was put on hold. Station to Station - expanded to include the whole of the "Thin White Duke" concert - was due to be released in 2006, with Low and Heroes coming out this year. Corporate buy outs and restructuring put the kibosh on the plans, and there will be no further expanded editions in the forseeable future because the rights to Bowie's back catalogue have reverted from EMI to him. He is apparently in talks with Ryko (who initially reissued expanded versions of his albums on CD)to reissue the albums. Whether or not they'll include bonus tracks is up for devate. I always thought the EMI reissues were very light on bonus tracks. TVC 15 was based on a story Iggy Pop told Bowie about a woman being eaten by her tv set. There are three sides to every story. I hope "Toy" gets released soon...the only tracks I have from it are the reworked tunes on Heathen and the b-sides that came with the 5 tracks cd single of Slow Burn!

And then you also get the bonustracks, which are more or less the same as the Ryko re-issue and also the album in 5.1 DTS. Luther Vandross? That's right:
