i'm not necsarrily a fan of linear storytelling in videos, but i think it would have made more sense for this one. the contrast between the different segments could have been played up more. the imagery of the two different motiffs lose something for me hacked together such as they are.

but by no means do i think it's a bad video. now "Ray of Light" and "Power of Goodbye" ... THOSE are bad videos. this is pretty good. i'm just not crazy about the editing.

as for TPOG... well, it's basically the same video Matthew Rawlston has been making for the last 10 years. very pretty, but no substance. and her wardrobe in that one is awful too. and i didn't like her hair when she had it that way (in the POG and NRM videos).

i liked the American Pie video though. which is about the nicest thing i can say about that whole exercise

I also liked the Ray of Light and Power of Goodbye videos. Ray of Light, just because I thought it went well with the song, and Power of Goodbye because she just looked so fine.
I even liked American Pie (the video, not the song) just because she acted like a slut and it turned me on

Haven't seen the new video...

By the way, Aaron Forever, we're really clever aren't we? I'll have you know that I've wished in this hand many times, but have never tried shitting in the other. You'd have to educate me on that.

No, you don't still have to fuck yourself. But if my posts don't look clever to you, it must only be because I don't share your opinion about certain things. That's too bad, because I generally don't call someone ignorant just because they don't like something that I like.

By the way, I've used your teaching line myself several times. The truth is, I'm not teaching, I just have the license. I'm in fact, doing... And, it's just my belief, but anyone with a degree in music education is probably bright. Or at least insane, because they had to work so damn hard and learn so much to get very little money or fullfillment.

Plus, it's debatable, but I'd say that in some ways, Prince is bright. But there's always something some bright people don't understand, such as running a business appropriately. We all have our strengths.

And now back to the Madonna post...

The Madonna video is great,but I gotta agree with Aaron.The editing could have been better.The fencing scenes should have been isolated from the rest of the video,instead of intercut with the other scenes.It's still a cool video though and I think it perfectly captures the spirit of the James Bond films.

I also enjoyed the "Making Of" part.Madonna was hilarious!! She seems so down-to-earth.And she still swears

Hey David, I actually like "Die Another Day" much better now that there's a video to go with it. This was possibly the only time that a Madonna song hasn't grabbed me right away. That kinda worried me. I'm happy that I'm finding reasons to like it.

Now I just have to decide whether I like that or the Missy video better. Decisions...

TRON and I have already had a lengthy debate about this, but I'm really turned off by the violence that's creeping into her work. The Drowned World Tour, What It Feels Like For A Girl, the scenes that were supposedly cut out of Swept Away and now THIS video.

I'm troubled by the violence itself, but I'm also a bit taken aback when an hour previous, she'd said she doesn't let her kids watch TV because there's so much crap on it. I have to wonder if it's stuff like the Die Another Day video that she's trying to shelter HER kids from but marketing to everyone else's.

Hmmm. Stuff to think about. I still like the song, and I think the video is almost great. Just some concerns.

I would agree. Especially with Madonna. Her career is more dependent on videos than just about anybody and she consistently delivers. I was afraid that the "making of" part would take away from the mistique surrounding the video because her premieres are always such an event. But I didn't mind it at all. My favorite part was at the end when she was like, "I don't even wanna see any of you f#*!s again".
