"Say Say Say" is still kinda cool, though. [Edited 10/3/07 17:25pm] The solo version of The Girl Is Mine is 20x times better than the version that was released. Everyone hates "Girlfriend"? I love that song I love Girlfriend too

Thriller is a good album, don't get me wrong, but there was no theme that was holding the songs together, it just a whole bunch of good to great songs on an album. OTW was just a great album, period.
I can listen to it from beginning to end every single time. Order of songs: I Can't Help It Burn This Disco Out Workin Day and Night Get on the Floor Off the Wall Girlfriend (I like this song, too) She's Out of My Life Rock With You It's The falling in Love Don't Stop Till You Get Enough (I love this song, but you can only hear it so many times, and once you learn the lyrics the challenge is gone) Lyrics?!? Don't Stop.. ain't about the lyrics, dear I disagree. All songs are about lyrics, darling. Secondly, I just feel this song is kinda played out. It's not a bad song, God strike me down if I ever said that. I'm just not that fond of it anymore,

As well as this being his best album, it also seems to be his most sophsticated album. He obviously wanted to prove he was all grown up. So there was no healing world/children/lost childhood songs Or songs like Black and white or Bad, that just sound downright childish.

It´s not my all time MJ favourite album, but I love I can´t help it. That´s just such a smooth, beautiful jam. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Yeah this is the album that everybody was like "oh my God, little Michael's finally grown up!" It shocked a lot of people who thought he be a fad like his fellow former teen idols Donny Osmond, Tony DiFranco and 'em. But he didn't. And he did it with Quincy Jones. Smart thinking, Michael!

vainandy said: Definately his best solo album ever because it sounds more like the stuff he was doing with The Jacksons at that time. It was sandwhiched right inbetween "Destiny" and "Triumph" so his brothers were around him and influenced him for the funkier side. All the rest of his solo albums were too damn pop sounding.
Yep...it's Michael at his best, bringing the damn funk.

Off The Wall in my opinion is Michael's best album
The album has the best dance tracks of any MJ album and best vocals. MJ back then would sing fast, but it still came across very smooth and soulful. Now when MJ sings a very fast track,he grunts way to much with his voice, and its not coming out as smooth. Maybe thats due to age,and he has a hard time singing fast and still sounding smooth and clear.

Cinnie said: I am especially fond of this original album cover shot. I love the original cover. I don't know why they changed it now.I can't even find the original in stores anymore . I feel like the whole "Off The Wall" era is so overlooked by both fans and the general public though. People seem to forget how big Off The Wall was . Whenever I watch specials about MJ's life they always go from the Jackson 5 singing "I want u back" to "Thriller" and barely mention OTW. Teenage-Early 20's MJ is so underrated. He was a GREAT performer back then even before Motown 25 and all that. He had so much energy and was so spontaneous on stage during this time. This my fave MJ era by far. [Edited 10/4/07 15:33pm] "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always

Dangerous sold more than Off The Wall, so how is it underrated? I mean It's a good album but def. overrated in the MJ fan community. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ

I dont think its overated. Its very difficult for me to put off the wall, thriller, bad, dangerous and history in order of best. That's how highly i rate all 5.

Underrated by music critics and casual fans. I believe someone wrote earlier that most people remember songs like "Black Or White" and "Remember The Time" -- that is about it. Dangerous is a fantastic combination of two sounds. We can agree to disagree.

Rod Temperton had that Heatwave funk going on that song. Thriller may have been MJ's most popular album, But I think Off The Wall was his Funkiest.Songs I love in this order: 1) Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough 2) Rock With You 3) Get On The Floor 4) She's Out Of My Life 5) Workin' Day and Night 6) Burn This Disco Out 7) I Can't Help It (used to be higher) 8) It's The Falling In Love 9) Off The Wall 10) Girlfriend (the worst song on the album)

yeah but not everybodys in to funk. He probably knew he would have more success with pop/rock and made that change after OTW. Smart move.

And unlike some, a number of other people feel that music on his post-OTW albums is still fantastic! Just become one does not like rock does not mean that the music is bad. I think songs like "Give Into Me" and "Who Is It" are excellent!

I think songs like "Give Into Me" and "Who Is It" are excellent! yeah, u cant win with some people, if MJ stuck to one style you get people saying he's not innovative enough. He has to change and he's done a good job of it compared to many motown artists.
