"Grease" by Frankie Valli

Who says old folks can't get down? I'm sitting here watching one of my DVDs of "Soul Train" and that old buzzard wasn't no spring chicken when he made that song. Give it up y'all. Who likes this jam?

He sure did. I don't know who else was on the original episode with him. The episode I have is the Vanity 6/Carl Carlton episode with Frankie Valli as the artist from the "Soul Train History Book".

I done "splained" in that other thread. Frankie didn't have none of today's elements in his music. Of course, they weren't invented yet. lol

A few months ago, I was obsessed with 'The Night' by Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. I must have played it three or four times a day, for about two weeks.

Good pick, Vain. I KNEW SoulAlive was on here somewhere. Yeah, I always dug this cut. Over the years, I grew to not dig the film as much as I did when I was a kid. One of the rare times when I've kinda turned on something that I dug when I was little. But I've never changed towards this song, though. Just shows how versatile the Bee Gees were. And great pick in choosing Frankie. I liked how the song was pure 1978 although the film was based from a much earlier period. I remember when they were filming at Venice High. Didn't know what it was. Didn't see Travolta or Olivia or Stockard (who I loved).

Same here... The basic premise behind the movie (and musical) is that Sandy has to conform to win Danny's affections. It's a really skewed message to send to kids: "Dress like a hooker and find true love".

I thought this movie was the best ever when I saw it in 1978. Admittedly I haven't seen it in awhile, but still listen to the soundtrack somewhat regularly. I do like the title song very much.

Amazingly, when the producers first heard the "Grease" theme song, they didn't like it nuts They thought it sounded too disco, when the movie is supposed to take place in 1959.They kept it though and it worked.

Ironically, another song in the movie ("You're The One That I Want") was actually written to sound like a 1978 song. The writers added the "ooh ooh ooh" part to make song appeal to disco lovers...or at least that was the objective, lol.

Ah,but you're forgetting that Danny was also willing to change his image to win Sandy back.Remember the scene at the carnival where he's trying to act like a serious schoolboy all of all sudden? He was getting rid of the "cool" image that caused him to lose Sandy (temporarily)...

"You guys mean alot to me,but so does Sandy, and I'm gonna do whatever it takes to win her back"

Also,it's not as if Sandy transformed herself into a slut lol She's still pure and innocent...just a little more sexier than usual.

My favorite songs from the soundtrack....

"Grease" by Frankie Valli
"Summer Nights" by John Travolta and Olivia Newton John
"Hopelessly Devoted To You" by Olivia Newton John
(probably my favorite)
"You're The One That I Want" by John Travolta and Olivia Newton John
"Alone At The Drive In" (instrumental)
(this song makes me sad,for some reason)
"Those Magic Changes" by Sha Na Na
"There Are Worse Things I Could Do" by Stockard Channing
(this song is AMAZING! If it were up to me,this would have been one of the singles)
