The cd is 100% better than her first song. You can really tell that "Let IT Go" was issued for radio. Her album has some really good trax. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Well, I think a lot of those artists you mentioned are returning to the fore (esp. Me'Shell) and some are gaining wider distribution (esp. Ledisi). But it may have never "left," it may just have been "hiding" or "hidden."
(Let me also take the time to add that there have been a few innovative artists on the jazz scene playing "real music" over the last few years, including the Bad Plus and Marc Cary.) Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Yes "real music" never died, to some folks, it just smells funny. (apologies to Frank Zappa ) tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 [Edited 10/2/07 18:23pm] "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

The hell with just "real music". I'd rather see "real funk" back or something else new that is made with real instruments or at least better sounding fake instruments. But most importantly, something UPTEMPO. Damn, people need to wake up from making depressing shit.

I will say this; props to the jazz labels for giving other musical talents like Van Hunt (Blue Note) and Ledisi (Verve) a platform to shine. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

i think real music has always been around the problem has been the radio stations being unwilling to play it.
By the way, i know you get lots of abuse but where's your rumours and inside info dude!.

I agree with whoever said uptempo music. Even songs that aren't depressing, that are supposed to be joyous, fun and danceable are very slow. It's just something I've noticed lately. Whatver happened to music played at 128BPM+? I don't think I've heard a song faster than that on the radio in a while.
