New Rule....Any artist/Actor/Actress that apologizes for something, is not allowed to record or act again. Thats right, when did we become such "pussies" in this country. WHY everytime something goes wrong or we hear someone show their true colors do we need apologies from them and OPRAH and Dr.Phil episodes. So my rule is that anyone who apologizes for themselves is not allowed to record or act again, im sure that will stop them from apologizing. LOOK life is tough, people say shit we dont agree with, but get over it, alot of people are just assholes most of the time or just dont think our way. I think this dates back to the days when MJ would go on TV and apologize to the WORLD for a video. How fucking lame are we? Now i heard that Britney apologized to the world for the recent events, WOW, thank god because now i can sleep at night knowing Brintey apologized. This go for everyone from Don Imus to Mel Gibson to whoever else since something stupid, deal with it people, stop being pussies, thats why this country is last in everything, where to busy looking for apologies from celebs. I spoke to a person last week who works for a network, and i asked him why all shows suck and could the classic shows that Norman Lear did in the 70's (good times,Sanford and Son, All in the family) could they exist today, and he said "NO" you couldnt talk like that on TV today because everyone would ask for apologies? So wait a minute? we havent moved on we have gone backwards. NO MORE APOLOGIES, so Janet,Michael,Britney etc.. whatever you have planned next plese just dont say sorry, just be yourself. This also goes for Alec Bladwin, that guy on that Greys anatomy show, and whoever else. If you get offended by anything someone says that you dont know from a hole in the wall, well you need to go see a shrink quicker than Britney . Its simple, i dont know these people and neither do any of us. Most are assholes to begin with, let them show themselves for who or what they are. Dont ask for apologies, what does that prove? And second of all do you really need to know that Michael or Britney is sorry for something, i could care less, let them all have their "MEA CULPAS" with people who are close to them like their own families, we are the public, they mean nothing to us, nor do they really care about us to begin with. Its time to grow up and stop looking for apologies from people like this. Its really sad that we need that to live our days. So what happens now? oh Britney said sorry now i can go listen to her, shit, grow up, listen to her if you want, or dont listen to her, dont go "she said sorry, so now its all good" wow we are dumb. Let the market decide. It usually does when any of us make mistakes in our personal lives that may or may not endanger our jobs. But as a rule? No. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

well your clearly saying if it saves your job then apologize, which means that 99.9% of the time its fake anyway, so why bother with it. No celebrity will lose their job if they dont apologize for something, let them make their peace with loved ones, but us, the genral public? do we really need it? that is so sad that we hold out for these things. To me i like people that ARENT afraid to be unpopular and DONT apologize for what they say, Kanye West, may be an asshole but at least we know it and he doesnt apologize on oprah, Chris Rock,Bill Maher,Geroge Carlin, Richard Pryor etc.. can you imagine if they apologized 24/7 for their insights about the world, religion etc.. I mean we really need to just let go at this point, therefore apologizing should be stopped, say your peace, right or wrong and let it go. I'm a little lost here. Barring the fact that I never "clearly" said what you attribute to me. But I re-read your initial post, and as I understand it, you're saying that because we as a society are increasingly "p.c." or sensitive or whatever, any artist who apologizes for his or her actions is enabling that behavior, so they should be banned from creating something. Now here, you're saying that any such apologies are meaningless because they're done for self-preservation, not genuine contrition and resolution. So it seems you're really down on the audiences, not the artists, for being 1) overly sensitive, and 2) too dumb to realize when they've been manipulated by a "contrite" artist. We could debate that. But why put it on the artists? Let them do what they do, good, bad or otherwise, and let their fate be determined by their audiences in the marketplace. Or, in some more serious cases, the courts. Ultimately, we as a society have to figure these things out for ourselves. [Edited 10/1/07 16:02pm] Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

[Edited 10/1/07 16:02pm] In a nutshell what i am saying is to echo the words of Eric Dyson and Bill Maher this past weekend on Bill's show. Dyson said, "let a person speak and hang themselves if they choose too". The apology thing to me is something that has to go away, Im tired of hearing people apologize for shit that means nothing at the end of the day anyway, did we really need an hour long special on Alec Baldwin because he yelled at his kid, well guess what, she most likely deserved it, and also its not our business, and NOR should Alec who i normally RESPECT as a person LOWER himself to crawl to america on Dr. Phil, this is what has got to change. So if MJ does a video where he smashes windows or Britney lypsynchs the wrong way or Janets tit falls out or if Mel Gibson shows his true "colors" than let them do it! and just live life. Dude i dont watch it, but im talking about the 90% of the world that do and make this shit matter, America used to be able to do things, now we cant do shit, but apologize. I didnt even watch OPRAH when Prince was on because i knew everything said was gonna be fabricated to a certain extent. You make a valid point that celebrities these days are expected to apologize and then have a comeback or something alone those lines. And I understand your frustration. Because their apologizes often seem artificial and, to be frank, pointless. But I think it would be mistake to make a rule to ban an artist from creating art because he or she apologized for something he or she did or did not do. | |

I have learned that people say things because THEY MEAN IT, not because it slipped and they didnt know what they were doing. I mean seriously look at all the apologies i have named, britney,Michael,Janet, alec,Mel Gibson etc.. you think none of them meant what they were doing? and at the end of the day let them do what they do, no apologies, its unpleasant LIVE WITH IT. To put it simply we have a president that will never apologize for anything done or said and yet Britney or Don Imus we need apologies from? are we really surprised we are where we are.
