Spice Girls gig sells out in 38 seconds

Spice Girls comeback gig sells out
(Monday October 01, 2007 01:52 PM)

The Spice Girls' London comeback concert has sold out in just 38 seconds.

More than one million people in the UK registered for the December 15 show.

Those who successfully registered for the 02 Arena concert were sent an email or text message saying they could snap up their tickets.

Now three new London dates, on December 16 and 18 and January 2, have been added to the tour.

Tickets for the December 15 gig are already appearing on eBay, asking fans for as much as £750.

Scary, Sporty, Ginger, Posh, and Baby Spice launch their world tour in Vancouver, Canada on December 2.

They will also perform in cities including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, San Jose, Shanghai, Madrid, Beijing and Cape Town.

Their concerts will be the first time the Spice Girls have been on stage together since Geri Halliwell quit in May 1998.

Bookmakers Ladbrokes are now offering odds of 1-4 that the Spice Girls will have a Number One single by the end of the year, and 3-1 that the group records this year's Christmas Number One.

Ladbrokes spokesman Nick Weinberg said: "The 38-second sell out proves that the girls are still very much in demand."

Does remind you of the Prince fiasco with tickets.

Spice Girls fans hit out
True fans angry as touts sidestep online lucky dip and snatch tickets
02/10/2007

Furious Spice Girls fans hit out at the "deeply unfair" system that has led to thousands of tickets being sold on the internet for rip-off prices last night.

Many will miss seeing their idols because they believed they could only get a seat by entering an online lucky dip at the Spice website.

But we can reveal that any 02 mobile phone customers can buy up to six tickets each for some dates - despite not registering on the site.

And greedy touts are already cashing in with some tickets being sold at a staggering £900 instead of between £55-£75.

It means that a large proportion of the one million genuine fans in the UK who took the time to register on the official Spice Girls website were left empty-handed.

One told us: "I am so disappointed. It just feels deeply unfair that we've gone to so much trouble to register but other people can get tickets just like that depending on who their mobile contract is with."

A source close to the Spice Girls camp said that the girls had not been aware of the 02 deal.

The source said: "We had no idea the system could be bypassed in this way and fans who had registered let down."

One eBay tout who bypassed the ballot told us he was making a mint through the loophole.

He laughed: "None of us are interested in the Spice Girls at all and didn't register for the ballot. But we found out we could get tickets through being 02 customers and so I got all my mates on the network to get tickets and give them to me. I ended up with 17."

News of how to get tickets in this way swept across the internet yesterday and was subsequently seized on by chancers.

Ironically, the official ballot system was supposed to eradicate touts by only allowing six tickets per household.

News of the outcry came as the Spice Girls claimed a historic first - the sell-out of the first show, on December 15 at London's 20,000 capacity 02 Arena, in a mind-boggling 38 seconds.

In reality, email orders were collected over three hours before they officially went on sale at 10am yesterday with a computer processing them in less than 40 seconds. But some Spice Girls fans are still in with a chance of seeing their idols - as there are now 10 London dates as of last night.

An 02 spokeswoman played down the row, telling us: "We only had a certain amount of tickets and there are lots more dates."

Scary--> Cinnamon Spice (hot, firey, exotic)
Ginger--> well, uh Ginger Spice
Sporty--> Clover
Posh--> umm, I don't know...elderberry?

...but maybe thats kinda corny? confused

I'm fine with crappy seats, but my friend who is supposed to go with me isn't. She's a freak and wants to get really close. If she can get better seats for one of the NJ shows then I may have to sell my tix.
