BET is going to show a great program about rap lyrics. On Bet they are going to have a townhall style meeting on the state of rap and lyrics. It will have noted rappers, plus critics of rap like Al Sharpton and the like. It will be for two nights, so it should be good. All you others say Hell Yea!!

off and on I think they are trying to change their programming. I've actually seen a couple of interesting programs on BET in recent months.

The first of two shows was last night and fuck I missed it. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Did anyone watch this show?
I did and Nelly is a damn idiot. BET only had Chuck D up for one segment and yet Nelly's dumb ass was up for the entire show. I'm tired of rappers just not simply taking some responsibility for the stuff they do. ugh

the show was called " Hip Hop vs. America. It was a good show. I was disappointed that Chuck D didn't get say much. I think TI is an ignorant fool. did anybody see him making faces at the panelist sitting next to him. I really didn't expect Nelly or TI to say anything moving. They couldn't say anything negative toward the music. Remember they have to keep it Real.....IGNORANT for their fans in the hood.
Nelly and TI keep putting the responsibility on the Parents. This is true, that parents need to be responsible. But we all know alot of parents aren't. Some of the parents are kids themselves. TI, mike jones, and Nelly kept saying is that the music is just reporting what is going on in the streets. I think america has gotten the message already! It's time for music to move on and be more positive. We found out what was going on in the streets when Grandmaster flash released "The Message". That was 25 years ago, so we all know by now what's going on in the streets. Most rap just glorifies an ignorant lifestyle. I have no problem with some party songs but give me some tracks with some substance. I think it was a good show but I think they need to have some positive rappers on the show. Give me mos def, common, blackthought from the roots, q-tip. Give me rappers that can speak in complete sentences. I really enjoyed the Dr. Dyson on the show. He is very intelligent and entertaining as well. I think Russell Simmons comments were irresponsible about rap getting rid of racism. What! just because white people buy it doesn't mean it is riding america from racism. He said "rap music has done more for racism than the civil rights movement". WTF!!!!

yesterday I saw a special on C-Span about with Hip-Hop vs. Congress. Master P and David Banner were the rappers speaking on hip-hop. It was much better then tye BET special.
Master P has really grown up. He said he take full responsibility for what he did in the 90's and said he actually thinks he was the starter of this. He apologized to the the women, and everyone else who he hurt with the lyrics and said he is a better man then he was. He said he was gonna change. David Banner had some good points, but he kept saying "it's just music." He and some congress guy were getting real heated. PRINCE: Always and Forever

I think he is right, he did start the IGNORANT RAP MOVEMENT! How come we aren't hearing from the likes of LL Cool J, Rakim, Big daddy kane, De La Soul, etc on this issue. These real rappers should make a stand. One thing about LL is i think he has dumb downed his music to feel accepted. LL should stick to what put him on the top of rap in the 80's and 90's. A good example of an artist dumbing down his music and his style is Bow Wow. he was a nice clean cut kid now, he is trying to go with that terrible dirty south style rap just to sell records. I know alot of people back in the day said Hammer sold out. Hammer didn't sell out, he was just successful. This ignorant rappers now a days are selling out their own people. They make a lot of money by promoting ignorance. when they make it big, they never give back to their community. I think Rap has killed the R&B artist as well. R&B just doesn't get the airplay anymore because the heavy rap rotation on radio. [Edited 10/1/07 14:28pm] [Edited 10/1/07 14:28pm]

david is an idiot too. I have seen him at meetings of this nature. if a woman says she is offended by his lyrics he checks her.
if it is the parents are responsible, then these rappers who are parents should be more responsible. Holla!! I don't blame the vets of rap who weren't there not being there because it is not their fault the newer ones have turned hip hop into homey hangin rap. I hope these guys get it together or as public enemy says "or else we'll have to shuttem down" nipsy
