You serious?? Why would you not count HIStory?? It contains 15 new and unreleased songs?? The greatest hits part is irrelevant! It's two discs so technically it's a full length greatest hits + a full length new studio album!

lol Shoot, they were released as a double album. I wouldn't have mind if both discs were new but I thought him adding the hits set was calculating as if he was trying to see what would convince millions of buyers to buy it. The way he released the album was a mistake in how he released it. I would've bought it if he DIDN'T include the hits set, it would've made for an interesting review since some of the reviews at the time compared the "old" MJ to the "new" MJ: "the old MJ was so full of life; the new MJ is too angry" or something like that. As long as you don't include the hits set, it'll been a full-length studio album and I would've counted it but I didn't for the reason that the hits collection was there.
[Edited 10/1/07 23:47pm]

Well, this reasoning is ridiculous, as is this post, but if you don't accept it as a new album because of the old songs, then it is also no greatest hits collection because of the new songs! There are 15 old and 15 new! So it's either both, a new album and a greatest hits collection or nothing, since they cancel each other out!

BOTDF includes 5 new songs... so it counts!

No it don't. Five songs a full-length studio don't make. You can have ten new songs in a two-disc CD don't mean it's all a new studio album. It just mean that the artist decided to add some rarities in the mix. Really the only old ones in disc 2 was "Come Together" (I don't buy that he re-recorded it, he just took out the snare in that one because it wasn't 1988 anymore, lol.

And he didn't have to add the hits set, the new disc side was better on its own merit. Plus Blood on the Dance Floor included REMIXES so...

Well, it does! It's at least an EP! All this nitpicking is ridiculous and tiring anyway... it was promoted as a fullfletched release, so it does count! Period!

It actually took the trial for me to get into this song (probably because I didn't know too much about who "DS" was before then.) MJ's vocals here, and really on the entire album, are exceptionally funky. Slash was good, as always. And you gotta love the opening lyric. Thant has to be one of the better song openers in music.

Please are entitled to have their opinions with songs. At first I thought this song was shit. Now I think it is fantastic. There are several Michael Jackson songs I dislike, so it is not like we fawn over everything he does. shrug

I hate it when sensitivity results in arguments and boards being turned into "you can't say that" vs. "oh shut the fuck up!"

What does BSTA mean anyway? hmmm

I don't think the "BSTA" stands for anything!

I think he sings:

"He think's he's hot 'cause he's the best D.A."

It also could mean BS D.A. as in bullshit!

In the lyrics it also says

"He want your vote just to remain TA"

Even though he sings something different! I'm pretty sure though that the TA refers to D.A. District Attorney!

Well, it's not an artistical high quality song, but it serves the purpose to take a shot at Sneddon! And for that it's a great song! It's a guilty pleasure, so to say! I appreciated it a lot during the trial time! There is nothing better than to drive into Santa Barbara at night and listen to that song!

But that's the beauty of it. Disc 1 contains songs that are full of life, joyous and fun. The songs on the first disc span from 1979 to 1991. But disc 2 contains songs that are angry and painful. Disc 2's songs were recorded in 1994 and 1995. So when you hear this contrast between the discs you have to ask yourself, what on earth happened between 1991 and 1994? What made Michael Jackson so from "I wanna rock with you all night" to "stop fucking with me coz it makes it wanna scream"? Well something very significant happened to MJ in 1993, which I'm sure you are all aware of. When you realise the contrast between discs and you think about what happened between 91 and 94, that's when you realise how much the allegations really affected Michael.

IMO, HIStory is a fantastic record because it documents Michael's life perfectly. From a fun-loving song and dance man, to a hated, betrayed and lonely man. He couldn't have made that point any better than by coupling HIStory with a greatest hits disc.

Santa Barbara District Attorney. Swap the B and the S and replace T with a D. It's how he avoided a lawsuit. Well, not really. Because even though he avoided a sladour lawsuit, DS himself hit him with a bigger lawsuit 8 years later.

Oh I understand. But I just feel it would've been better had it just been about the pain, you know? Because it was gonna get the reviews that it was gonna get. And it DID get an Album of the Year Grammy nod so apparently we weren't the only ones digging it, lol.

I know it seems ridiculous, but it was Tom Sneddon he was dealing with. You never know what he's going to try and sue you for.

I haven't heard the song in a while, but does MJ also accuse Tom Sneddon of being in the KKK? I think I remember a lyrics like that or something. I'm going to have to go listen to it. If he does indeed make that accusation, that's pretty intense. Katherine (his mother) also accused Tom Sneddon of being in the Aryan Nations. Or was it his son? She either accused Sneddon or his son of being in the AN. Which is like the KKK. I wonder if there's any truth behind either claim. It would definately make Sneddon's motive for lynching MJ apparent.

Yeah, that makes even more sense... some times it's so easy! wink

DarlingDiana check out the first page of this thread! It says "You think he brother with the KKK?". And yes, it was the son who was accused!

The lyric was "You think he brother with the KKK?"

I honestly don't know what was going on with that lyric but apparently, Sneddon just laughed at it when he heard it so I don't know. Apparently, I think he knew the song was about him.

I remember when Mike got arrested and Jermaine's greasy ass ( lol ) called Larry King and yelled "THIS IS A MEDIA LYNCHING!" and shit, lol.

That was hell funny. His whole rant was hilarious. Not what he was saying (for the most part) but just because he was so damn angry. I couldn't help buy laugh. He's a sweet kid, but dude does some odd things some times. I guess it runs in the family. lol

I'm puzzled. After reading the lyrics 2 this track, Mj clearly has a certain perspective on Tom. With this in mind, why would Mike put himself in a position 2 get caught up by Tom a second time?

I certainly hope that Mike has learned a lesson.

Well Tom Sneddon has been sued by others before for using unprofessional tactics so Michael is not the only one who has a problem with him, but I do agree that MJ should have not put himself in a bad situation again but after seeing that interview he did with Diane Sawyer in 1994, I can't say I was suprised that this happened again. I remember when Diane asked MJ if the sleepovers would stop and he said no and I thought to myself "What an idiot"! I'm sorry, I love MJ but he has no one to blame but himself for the second time.

I think MJ felt like no one could tell him what to do so he decided to continue to have the sleep overs and look what happened? Michael has got to be one of the most self destructive people i've ever seen. He just seems to like getting in one mess after the next.

I think the trial was a wakeup call though. He hasn't been doing anything crazy lately or hanging out with any kids that are not related to him. I think he has finally learned his lesson but he's had to pay a big price for his stubborness and stupidity.
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart
