One of MJs best EVER. A stone cold classic!

Does he send letters to the fbi?
Does he say to either do it or die?

HIStory is my 2nd favorite MJ album, after Bad.

Dont 4get about the SOLO MOTOWN RELEASES!!!! Thats like saying Control was Janet's first.

Sometime I include Triumph as a solo release too since only one track is a solo by Jackie I believe (Wondering Who).

nod His work with The Jackson 5 and The Jacksons are often forgotten as well are his solo albums at Motown. But I think a number of orgers know about pre-Off The Wall music well.

Why '79? Can't you count? If we count 30 years back we will get to 1977! And since then he has released 12 albums (solo and the Jacksons)!

To me it's also one of the weakest songs of the album (together with This Time Around, which is better but dated, Childhood wich was simply too much and 2Bad, which had a really great groove (see the Ghosts short film), but was mis-produced by turning it into a hiphop/rap song). Oh, and I almost hate You Are Not Alone now, but that's a text book case of overexposure.

Yeah, previously D.S. was also one of my least liked songs on HIStory! But during the trial time I really started to like that song! And "2bad" is a kick ass song, regardless if it's the album or "Ghosts" version!

@Graycap, his adult solo releases have been little in 28 years but I credit the albums before:

1971: "Got to Be There"
1972: "Ben"
1973: "Music & Me"
1975: "Forever, Michael"
1979: "Off the Wall"
1982: "Thriller"
1987: "Bad"
1991: "Dangerous"
1995: "HIStory" (half-greatest hits, half-studio)
1997: "Blood on the Dance Floor" (remix)
2001: "Invincible"

But in that sense, 9 studio solo albums in 36 years is really little... but then you have to consider the "sales numbers". falloff

LOL, you counting "HIStory" as a full-length studio album?
  - E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator

DarlingDiana

Ofcourse HIStory is a full-length studio album. It's 15 tracks of new stuff. That's more than full-length. 12 tracks is regarded the average length of an album.

Anyway, 10 albums in 30 years (30 years from his first to his last album) is not much considering Prince has released 30+ in the same amount of years. But Michael tours more than any other artist. The Bad tour went from mid-late 87 to early 89. Dangerous went from 92 to 93 but was cut short because of the false allegations that were made against him. I think he planned to continue on to 94, taking his tour to the US. HIStory went from 95 to 97. That's more than most artists, who usually take a few months to tour.

But then you may say he hasn't toured since 97, so why has the last 10 years seen so little productivity? Well he has these little things called children now. Michael Jackson is a father. Debbie Rowe up and left because she couldn't cope with paparazzi and tabloids, so Michael is a single parent. Sure he gets help from his brown sugar Grace. But Michael is such a family-orientated person that being at home with his kids is more important to him than recording and touring. He's a stay-at-home-dad now who will probably record some albums in his off time. But don't expect any tours. Atleast until his kids get older.

Give it until atleast 2012, when Blanket is 10. Perfect year for him to start touring/performing again anyway. The London Olympics will be held in that year. The opening ceremony is always a big thing. Michael could perform there and then take off on a world tour. But until then, he wont even think about it. His kids are too important to him.

Well the only reason I say it ain't because of the hits collection that accompanied it (Disc One - HIStory Begins). So technically it's half-studio, half-greatest hits, plus it had 15 songs on both discs.

You serious?? Why would you not count HIStory?? It contains 15 new and unreleased songs?? The greatest hits part is irrelevant! It's two discs so technically it's a full length greatest hits + a full length new studio album!

lol Shoot, they were released as a double album. I wouldn't have mind if both discs were new but I thought him adding the hits set was calculating as if he was trying to see what would convince millions of buyers to buy it. The way he released the album was a mistake in how he released it. I would've bought it if he DIDN'T include the hits set, it would've made for an interesting review since some of the reviews at the time compared the "old" MJ to the "new" MJ: "the old MJ was so full of life; the new MJ is too angry" or something like that. As long as you don't include the hits set, it'll been a full-length studio album and I would've counted it but I didn't for the reason that the hits collection was there.

No it don't. Five songs a full-length studio don't make. You can have ten new songs in a two-disc CD don't mean it's all a new studio album. It just mean that the artist decided to add some rarities in the mix. Really the only old ones in disc 2 was "Come Together" (I don't buy that he re-recorded it, he just took out the snare in that one because it wasn't 1988 anymore, lol.

And he didn't have to add the hits set, the new disc side was better on its own merit. Plus Blood on the Dance Floor included REMIXES so...
