I can't belive this was a hit in the summer of '78 -- 30 years ago! It still sounds "fresh" and her black-woman-trapped-in-a-white-woman's-body vocals are fantastic!
A revamped (not cover) version of the song was released this year by the songwriter-producer of the original, Andy Kahn. Using Karen's entire original vocal, the sound has been up-dated. Mr. Kahn can be emailed at hotshotakb@aol.com too and I am sure he'd get a kick out of so many fans appreciating the song he wrote for Karen! RIP Karen (1951-1991)  | |

I absolutely love this song!! I played it for my friends one night and we all went crazy dancing in my basement
