That's why popular black music sucks these days, it's all about acting a fool and trying to come up with as many circus moves as possible over boring hiphop beats instead of crafting a good song.
All of a sudden dancers are more important than musicians.
The guy can sing but 5 years from now would you still be listening to run it?

Nope, Completely wrong. Never Omarion could sing LIVE, that's what I'm saying... He always lipsyncs in his concerts and live performances... And I don't even talk about dancing, Chris is 5 years younger and put to shame all of the other MJ wannabes...

Bring videos of Omarion singing live as good as Chirs Brown...

Oh by the way.. i don't mean to fuck up what you were saying
i recently found out that Chris uses Auto Tune during his concerts...
which is what most artists are doing these days anyway
but i just thought id release that little tid bit

for those of us who are unaware of what Auto tune is...
It's a pitch correction machine that fixes a persons pitch and tone
in real time...
like when ever they hit a bad note, that bad note gets automatically set to the next nearest note in the scale
Just FYI...

What you did fuck up ? lol

Anyway, concerning The Auto tune, The Auto tune makes no miracle. For those who didn't know, all the Auto Tune can do is creating what Tpain has been known for, a robotic voice like Troutman's voice box effect...

I've never seen in his LIVE performances or concerts Chris Brown singing with this robotic effect...

Thats one of the many uses it does and those are new additions to it...
Auto tune was originally a rackmount machine, that simply keeps you in tune while you sing, in case you slip out...

The robotize thing you're talking about is the Phase vocoder function, which is the speech analyzer/synth function

But the main use of Auto Tune is to keep you intune..
Justin Timberlake uses it, Shania Twain uses it, Cheryl Crowe uses it...
All live by the way,
and they don't sound like robots now do they...
well they might... but that has nothing to do with autotune

lol

Yah it's pretty much an Industry standard now...

As a ainger i'm pretty much against it, but hey U know the industry is just about quick and easy fixes
and as Krayzie implied, alot of the rappers are using too so they can sing their own chorus so they don't have to pay a real singer to do it for them.

Nope... It has nothing to do with the Phase vocoder function and the speech analyzer/synth function.
Autotune creates a robotic effect when artists miss a note. Jennifer Lopez used it on If you had my love. And you can clearly hear the Autotune effect when she goes out of tune. I dit post a video about the autotune effect a while ago on prince.org...But it does make NO miracle. It doesn't make you sing a good live.

Dude no it doesn't, I've worked in a studio using autotune, the rackmount and the plugin, and i was doing sacharrine pop music & country(backstreet boys shit, hated it but i digress) when you autotune a voice it does not sound electronic, Now their is a function for you to robotize, but back then on analogue Autotune or Autotune 3 the only was to get the same thing was to mess with the LFO settings the delay and speed settings and possibly add an octavator...
Trust me all robotized vocals are purely intentional

When i use to intern at Electric Ladyland while Cheryl Crowe was doing her wild flower sessions and she was a slave to autotune...
She would bring her own rackmount and add it in the mix after post production...
And no robotic sound man

All the artists using heavily Autotune in studio have been exposed on stage... All of them. Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Cassie, Omarion... The list is endless. Please, you can't fake the stage...

Listen to Omarion on his album and then on stage there's a STRONG difference. And Omarion use A LOT of Autotune.

And the robotize effect is old as hell.

Autotune makes no miracle.
