yeah but...i just dont understand why people hate on other artists...i persoanlly cant stand master P, Cash Money and all them....but i really dont waste my time talkin about how much I hate them...all that would do is just give them more power and audience.

You do understand i don't hate Kanye?
I just merely dislike his music...
Everything is a matter of perception and the internet is the forum of discussion...
I'm an open miinded cat who likes to express my opinions.
Though it may clash with others... thats bound to happen...
But i never mean anyy disrespect...
In all reality of my musical politics i DO NOT LIKE POP MUSIC...
Not in that non-conformist way...
I just think its formuliac in unartistic...
Its my opinion that the sole goal of pop music is to release swill amongst the masses to gain money...
Its musical capitalism at its finest... Just look at the 50 and kanye beef...
Two swill merchants beefing on who can sell the most records...
I've always said that music aintt about selling records...
Thats just the business aspect of MUSIC BUSINESS...
Music is art... and pais i know you feel the same way...
cause we're both ecletic like that
were we differ is that you automatically praise something you like...
Which is cool, i'm just critical like that...
I look or i like people who don't kow tow to the mainstream...
Because thats the way i am...
Kanye is mainstream, In the way that he's convincing people that hes doing something different when hes not...
Hes just doing what everybody did 10 15 years ago, and NOW its new...
hes a retro leach...

Whereas the roots, as you say try too hard to be different...
But they still are different and you know its apart of their beiing...
Like Mos Def who parades around new york playing gigs with a live big band...
He's just generally different...
ANd i admire that... Thats a hard thing to find in a rapper/musician...
Cause mos def in my opinion is a lyrical musician...
Meanwhile you got Kanye...
Who's fun, makes somewhat cool beats that appeals to everybody,
You can dance to him...
Giggle at his sophmoric rhymes...
And its fine...

But he aint an artist in my eyes...
He's just another egomaniacal industry beat puppet...
The likes that Dre became and now Timbaland...
Nothing wrong with Pop music... or Hip pop...
so if you like it cool, we are slaves to our taste...
But an invisible line exists...
Between mainstream and what i like to call "Whoa"
Mainstream everybody likes...
"Whoa" in 20 years Everybody will like its and respect it...
2 Pac was mainstreaam Wheras Makaveli was "Whoa"
Remember the time was Mainstream wheras Stranger in Moscow was "Whoa"
Purple Rain was Mainstream whereas Sign O The Times was "Whoa"
Kanye West Mainstream while Mos Def ... "Whoa"

Some people go through their lives engulfed in the mainstream and love it...
Others search for the Whoa...
Nothing wrong with each path as long as you're happy
but their is always room for discussion

I never used to like pop music either because commercialism factor.

And I do respect artists that are doing things that are new or inventive.

But as of late, I find that pop music ain't THAT bad.. it is what it is.

And just like everywhere else in life, a little light fun fluff is acceptable... and at times needed.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

When I don't want to think and my brain is filled with too much...whatever... it's good to distract myself with something fun.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

oh and just to throw this out there....the fact that Kanye and other pop music isproduct doesn't stop it from being art it just becomes a different kind of art once the public embrasses it.

I've never made any other point... all I'm asking is:

Why is fluff worthless?
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Kayne is not fluff though.
Embattled Warrior or whatever sounds bitter about Kayne
Kayne is talented, just as talented as Dre Wutang, etc so stop discrediting
hip hop and Kayne

Well it's kinda juvenile to ask me to stop discrediting something without bringing forth some type of argument for your position...
Nobody around here can take a good spirited debate...
If you think im wrong
give me a valid explanation why...
Cause their a multitude of people who agree with my position or at least respect it...
And I'm sure theirs a multitude of cats who disagree, such as you...
Nothing wrong with it...
But you disagreeing with me means absolutely shit, unless you can back it up...
And I'm saying in a non-hostile way...
I aint bitter against anybody...
Its not like kanye bitch slapped my mama and i have a vendetta...
And you can't say ImI'm discrediting hip hop
Cause I'm one of the few cats who have stood behind hip hop...
and still frankly believes in it...
I just look at things more than 1 dimensional...
Additionally...
I don't see any of psuedo intellectual so called Hip Hop Scholars disagreeing with me
And don't front guys
I saw you cats praising Kanye in the bgginning of this thread...
Step yo game up
Why is Kanye so great?

Why is fluff worthless?

Fluff isn't necessarily worthless
I'm just saying it has no artistic value...
Fluff is stuff thats easy to listen to, easy to ignore...
is basically a phantom in history...
Easily forgettable...
Which pretty much explainss pop music...
Pop music goes through its ups and downs...
Pop pretty much was great during the 50s and some of the 60s
was god awful during the 70's
Got great in the 80's
Slumped a little in the 90's but was still generically fun..
In the 2000's it just started to become swill...
I hope this is just another low...
But something tells me it isnt...
Fluff has its place...
But todays fluff... absolutely sucks compared to last decades fluff...
Just because you like fluff doesn't make you any less of a person
Or else all those fag hags awaiting Madonna's re-emergence in pop music
are doomed...
And they're not
they're cool people,
Remember at the end of the day, its YOUR musical taste
as long as you like it, it doesn't matter...

There is a difference between making a good song that becomes popular in more than one genre and a song that has no shelf life or credible presentation beyond its novelty. In terms of rap music, Kanye West's music is more of the latter.
THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!
