Somewhat...

I like what I've heard...I honestly dont have much from them. On my 12th birthday back in '87 I got the CIRCUMSTATIAL EVIDENCE on vinyl! That was with Miki Free (P wannabe!), Delisa Davis, and I cant remember the 3rd guy..(Jeffery?)...

I also have the 'Best of'...I just love '2nd Time Around'...
Every minute of last night is on my face today....

FYI- Jody and Jefferey were dancers on Soul Train. There was actually a different third member before Howard joined the group. Once Jody left...I was done with Shalamar but I'll listen to Howard sing the alphabet!!!

Sho Nuff! Jody was Snuck into the Trunk of a Car to get on the show.I think Howard Revealed that?Jefferey helped Michael Jackson out with Dance steps during the "Bad" Era.Soul Train had Rules about who got on&who didn't they had there own version of Studio 54.

Shalamar (Howard Hewitt,Jody Watley and Jeffrey Daniels) temporarily reunited in 1999 and opened for Earth Wind and Fire on a few shows in Europe.I was hoping for a full-scale reunion and a new CD,but it never happened.

Jody and Howard continue to record, don't know what Jeffrey is up to these days.My favorite Shalamar songs are...

***"A Night To Remember"(1982)
***"Take That To The Bank"(1978)
***"Don't Try To Change Me"(1982)
***"Help Me"(1982)
***"Full Of Fire"(1980)
***"This Is For The Lover In You"(1981)
***"Over And Over"(1982)
***"The Second Time Around"(1980)

A few years ago, they released an excellent "Best Of" CD containing many of those songs I listed. But,you really should check out their 1982 album 'Friends' which I consider their best work.

Definitely...still love that song, in fact..and I could sooo easily relate to the lyrics, too...lol

I get a call about 2am
Saying you don't want to be alone
Now I'm tired and half asleep
But emotions are just a little too strong...

For years I've been your analyst
I've been as patient as I've been kind
For years you've played off believing
That I loved you for only your mind...

Cause you're a dead giveaway
Girl you want me like I want you
A dead giveaway.

You're scared but you won't admit it
(Even though you try)
But tonight you're committed
(Baby we know why).

Cause you're just a dead giveaway.

I dug Shalamar back in the day..

my 3 favorite songs:
1. MAKE THAT MOVE
2. A night to remember
3. Second time around

Howard Hewitt apparently still tours; he played a jazz club (I think) here in DC not too long ago. I too had heard something about a reunion a few years ago.. too bad it didn't hold up, I would've paid a pretty penny to see them..

I fail to see the fuss about Jody. Her voice was good in the context of the group, but as a solo artist her voice sounds flat, which is also the same word I would use to describe her body (or, I could say SKINNY for that.) Further, she looked like an alien more times than not.
Good for Andre that he was attracted to her & was able to do her- & her records.. weren't they married for a while, & didn't they even have a daughter together?

Please don't get me wrong- I don't hate her or anything like that, I simply miss what all the fuss was about over her.

As for Jeffrey, I've heard almost nothing about him, which leads me to think that there was probably a reason that he was more utilized as the group's choreographer than lead or co-lead singer..

In any event, this trio, this best-known version of Shalamar had it going on & they get props for the hits they put out from, what, '78-82..
I'll see you tonight..

Jody was Hot. What's wrong with skinny? Certainly that's better than Fat for a sexy woman of her caliber. Looking For A New Love was a great song. Very Popular. Yes, I believe Andre and her were married and he worked on her albums.

I love Jody Watley and I'd love to see her make some kind of comeback. She's gorgeous, can dance her ass off and has a great voice.Remember her hits "Real Love","Friends" (with Eric B. and Rakim) and "Don't You Want Me"?

Much more than being "thick" or "thin"..
I like a woman who is HEALTHY.
basically I prefer a woman who's..
"thick in all the right places"

I would even say I think Jody looked better when she was with Shalamar. Shalamar was definitely a pop group, but they had SOUL. Jody as a solo artist came off to me as more of a "product" or image.. & I just didn't get into it. I give her credit for being able to sing.

Was I hallucinating or did she get breast implants after she went solo?
I'll see you tonight..
