Child porn police to investigate Elton John

Sir Elton John is facing an investigation from child porn police after a photo he donated to an art exhibition was seized by cops.

Art gallery bosses at The Baltic Centre For Contemporary Art in Gateshead have withdrawn the explicit photo a day before the exhibition is due to start on Wednesday, reports newspaper The Sun.

The photo, taken by famed photographer Nan Godin, features two young girls posing provocatively - and is one of 4,000 pictures used in the Sir Elton John Photographic Collection.

The Rocket Man hitmaker is said to admire the "directness, truth and poignancy" of Godin's work.

Police are said to be investigating whether the gallery has broken the law for using the image. A police spokesperson says, "Who owns it or owned it is also part of the investigation."

John's publicist declined to comment.

i can't believe all this mess is over a nan goldin photo. her work is very confessional, personal and confrontational and a lot of it documents illness, death, domestic abuse and other really "unsexy" realities. yes, her work is sometimes explicit, but it's far from pornographic when you look at it in context. this whole flap is ridiculous.

Are the young girls nude? You can pose "provacatively" without being nude. If they aren't nude, I don't see what the problem is unless they are performing sex acts on someone else who is nude.

I didn't see the photo in question but, from reading her bio, her work doesn't sound pornographic to me. Controversial maybe, but not pornographic.

this is all about the man trying to bring elton down.

Without knowing the details of the case, I can only say, imagine what the police can do if they found one image out of 4000, that they found "questionable"?

What constitutes art and pornography?

Is Darling Nikki pornographic? Is the artwork of naked angels or the statue of David pornographic? Is art meant to challenge perception or reinforce the status quo?

In Elton's particular case, he may be many things, but a pedophile? Highly doubtful.

By the way, anyone who viewed the nude Vanessa H. pics of the Disney child star may be considered a pedophile if she was under 17 when she took them.

I remember back in the mid-late 80's and some "wacky" charges were brought out against Elton, and they were so untrue he sued and the newspaper he sued is still paying him to this day. As for Vanessa Hudgens, she was under 17 when those pictures were taken so the camera person needs to be charged, Zac her gay boyfriend whom she sent them too needs to be charged , and a good portion of america and the world too.

This country is really a joke, this is actually issue and yet pedaphiles convicted are living all over america and they cant do shit to them. I think the Western world has become obsesse with children and child sexuality. To investigate Elton JOhn for donating a piece of art work(I mean it's not as if he had 10,000 pornagraphic images of children on his lap top) proves that the world has gone mad.

By the way, all those peeps who looked at the R.kelly tapes I wonder if they will be prosecuted for child porn offences as well if the police can round them all up.

Another reason the media is full of shit with their whole "protect the children" crap. The two biggest selling magazines this year were.....Entertainment Weekly's issue with Hayden Panettierre on the cover, and FHM uk's Issue with her on the cover, at both times, she was 17 on each. Now the issues are nothing extreme, but they imply SEX, having her in a "cheerleading" outfit, having her in a mini-skirt, give me a break, the media could care less about kids and how they are perceived, as long as the suits are making the bottom line thats all that matters.

You know, I was watching Grace Jones' 'Slave To The Rhythm' video on some cable channel at my sister's on Sunday lunchtime and there's a split-second image of a semi-naked child as part of the video. I remember being shocked by the image years ago when I first saw the video and I was amazed that it's never been edited in recent years.

It's intact on Universal Music's official YouTube upload too - just checked.

And now I feel dirty.
