Who else on the Org is a fan of Kelis?

One of my all time favorite female performers. Who else loves Kelis?

That's probably the only Kelis cut I can bear to listen to.

I love Kelis. Get Aong With You is one of the best songs ever. She's a great and very unique artist. I even liked Blindfold Me.

Not after the last album (which will probably be the last album I buy from her). I'm not saying she needs the Neptunes, but she doesn't have to try to work with everyone else! Obviously they had a good thing going. She needs to stick with one person who gets her and they didn't.

I'd love to hit it, but her music sucks. One novelty song after another, and the ones that aren't novelty songs like Good Stuff are just totally generic. I put her in the same category as Pink. Great attitude, great image, very fuckable, but musically a complete washout.

Not me. I have all the albums. Just never got into the last one. Maybe I'll give it another chance before trying to sell it. Seems like they kind of tried to repeat the formula of "Tasty", but it just didn't work nearly as well. "Tasty", I think, successfully mixes quirky Kelis with a lot of hot producers and manages to yeild a solid album that is very accessible and a little more R&B pop than R&B hip-hop...It felt like a good fit but I guess you would have to ask her..With "Kelis Was Here", I think they dumbed things down a lot and tired to make Kelis the girl who not just sang those hooks on hip-hop songs, but the booty shaking girl in those hip-hop songs. With only four different albums with varied styles and even personalities, it's hard to peg her. It's not like she should be catogerized, but while some people think "Tasty" might have been her selling out, I don't think so. However, "Kelis Was Here" borders on parody!

'Fraid so. Those tracks were so overrated that it was practically a point of principle to not listen to the albums.

I agree. Looking at the videos for "Get Along With You" and "Bossy" you would think it was a different person

Been a fan since Caught Out There nod

Her first album was .....aiight....but when Wanderland came out, and disappeared in the US..its the songs on that one that really brought the real Kelis to the forefront.

Junkie, Get Even, Young Fresh N New, Spot, Digital World, Popular Thug, hott songs.
Tasty was good too...it was her being a little more commercial, but the real Kelis still shined..

Sugar Honey Iced Tea, Keep It Down, Glow, Millionare, Flashback (which was on the previous album)

Kelis Was Here was just too much though. Some of the real Kelis shined; Circus, Living Proof, Lil Star, Trilogy, Appreciate Me, Till The Wheels Fall Off and she had some nice cuts on other albums @ the time too like Brass in Pocket & 80's Jam but it's like the record label made that album more so than Kelis...plus she didnt really have any handwriting in plenty of the tunes.

Next time around..i hope she gets that commercial track again and go spaced the fuck out, or get P!nk on every1

I already have Lil Star (had to stop the video so it don't ruin the song for me, that shit is AWFUL!), Till the Wheels Fall Off, Marathon & Milkshake. I'll have to d/l Get Along w/ You nod I thought I'd like Millionaire but Andre's part bugs me so I'll pass (& I like Andre!). Who's that kid though doing his part in the video?? He did a great job!
