The reason I like Grace for Michael, and the reason I think many a MJ fans don't like Grace (besides her being black) is because she isn't a MJ fan source. Floetcist, did you see the thread on KOP about Michael and Stephanie Mills? I got tired of some fans dissing ol Stephanie and roasted Debbie and LMP to no end! Fans can't stand Raymone(well, she gets on my nerves because all she does is deny ) and Grace with no proof.
They have this image of Michael as being this magical, virginal being when:

She may not say it right upfront, but she does. On their Oprah interview, she basically said that Michael was copying off of Elvis with Neverland supposedly being based off Graceland.

As you know, 2003-05 were not exactly pleasant years for MJ. So mind you, during the most turmoil stage in his life, where he is possibly being sentenced to jail for 20 years or more, he has his ex-wife speaking ill of him. When asked about this [the trial] one of her quotes were '...its not my mess to clean up anymore' and I also recall her saying the trial was a 'blessing' because she didn't have to testify. I can't remember why, but I think it has something to do with 1993 and legalities of that case. Sorry, I'm not court savvy.

LMP seems to forget that after their divorce, they were still very much together (be it friends or not, is still significant) until a good 1999. (They had secretly wed in the Dominican Republic in 1993 or '94, I believe. There are pictures too. I don't see how she would still be with her evil manipulator). This means even during his marriage to Debbie, which I think we had discuss in one of the other 1029840359034583 MJ threads. Even Rowe herself said that MJ was still in love with her.

But for some reason I don't know why, there is a few number of MJ fans who are also fans of LMP - her music and her relationship with MJ. I see the trend that LMP fans tend to have hostile feelings about Grace (you know, shes evil and all that). But when asked, they give some half-assed vague answer into why. People hate me for saying this, but I wouldn't put it past them if that one of the reasons is that shes black. YEAH I SAID IT. But anyway... I can't phantom in the least why an MJ fan can like Lisa, after all she's said about him. But I'm sure they think her intentions are pure. Its like a Janet fan jonesing for Justin Timberlake. I wanna get into Debbie, because I said what I had to say about **** LMP. Debbie is the ultimate gold digger, ho, and whore. This woman, IMO, was a plant to be in MJ's life. That man NEVER loved that nasty piece of shit. I was LIVID when some MJ board did an appreciation thread on Debbie because she said "positive things" about MJ during the trial. (I have some part of Debbie's transcript from the trial and I was just floored.) However, when a former friend of a member came forward and told her story, those fans, esp. that owner, bashed, defamed, and belittled her. The owner even closed the thread and deleted the thread. However, there is a similar thread at MJNO that I can still introduce you too. Her friend was black, young and MJ LOVED her. Her story was real and touching. These fans who defend that fool never tell you how "great" Debbie is. They will just tell you, "she gave MJ children". How does that make her great? She gave MJ children, got paid, and left. So, how is she great? She was a ho because a ho gets paid to have sex with men and that is what she did to MJ. She left his children and went to the damn media and started talking about this man's children like she was paid to that.

On top of that, during the trial, like a year before she testified on the stand, she was going on the ET/Insider (that show PAYS for interviews) and started talking shit about her situations with MJ. She is friends with Ian Drew, one of the plants that Us Weekly hired to created nasty, defaming stories on MJ. That quads story - Us Weekly made that up and I would not be shocked if Debbie received money from that story. You also had to remember that if Debbie were to talk shit about MJ in the trial, Thomas Mesereau had 40 VOLUMES, not chapters, not sections, VOLUMES against that fat piece of shit that would made her look like the fool that she is.

Now, I told you that a poster on one of those MJ boards were personal friends with Debbie. That fool would defend that woman like it was nothing. It was disgusting. She said that "Remember the Time" was about Debbie, however, MJ dedicated that song to Diana Ross. So, how can that song be about Debbie? Like you mentioned, Debbie was nothing but a crazy fan who followed MJ everywhere because MJ couldn't say no to her. There are still fans that want to be believe that MJ was in love with Debbie! Get the fuck out of my face with that bullshit! LOL! If MJ was in love with that bitch, then why did he cheat on her constantly? Why was he still seeing LMP while he was with her? Why did a former P.R. guy who worked for MJ for years said that it if MJ did not love his children, marrying Debbie would have been the WORSE MISTAKE IN HIS LIFE. That is a VERY strong statement. So, why aren't these stupid fans getting it to their heads that Debbie was a plant, IMO, by Sony to make sure that a white woman will get something with MJ? How come Sony (Epic/CBS Records at the time) made sure Romonica Harris did not marry Michael Jackson? They made sure that LMP and Debbie were in his life to tell the black community that MJ does not want anything to do with the black women! That is not a belief, that is a fact.
