I've been looking all over for their second album with no luck. I have three 45s from that album but I don't have "My Secret" which I want but I don't want to buy their greatest hits CD. I saw their second album on CD a few years ago but I guess they have made it out of print now. You definitely can buy "New Edition" on compact disc. In fact, all of New Edition's albums are available on CD. A few months ago, "Candy Girl" popped up and just recently, "Under The Blue Moon" popped up. I've noticed that the record store will keep one copy of an unpopular album and once it's sold, they don't replace it unless someone asks for it. The last few times I went, "Under The Blue Moon" was gone and not replaced. Andy is a four letter word.

New Edition is one of the greatest stories in R&B music history, I think.
Not only did they have success as a boy band but they integrated it into massive success outside the teen pop market. Plus for a brief time between 1987 and 1993, all six of the official members of the group had solo success (Bobby's being the most successful). Last I heard, all six members (Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Mike, Ralph & Johnny) are planning on (or are) working on a new album next year to celebrate their 25th anniversary.

That shit probably is in the trash bin in the back. I bought their one and only copy of Rick James' latest album a few days after it was released. They still haven't replaced it. The only reason they probably ordered it is because I'm a regular customer and they knew I would be looking for it. If it weren't for completing my collection, I would give it back to them and see if they could re-sell it to another sucker. Andy is a four letter word.

Wasn't 1990 a great year? I think "Poison" was the biggest-selling album by an R&B group that year (I forgot how much En Vogue's "Born to Sing" sold, lol). I think it did like five million worldwide. And yeah, BBD's success was unexpected. It was actually perfect since Michael, Ricky and Ronnie never stood out of the crowd the way Ralph, Bobby and Johnny did so for them to form a splinter group was perfect. And though they don't get the credit they get, BBD were the precursor to TLC. It's like Mike was Left-Eye (the rapper), Ronnie was T-Boz (while not much of a singer, he did sing and rap) and Ricky was Chilli (obviously the "sanger" in the group). They were the original group with the mixture of hip-hop, R&B and pop or whatever their slogan was at the time. TLC took that concept and ran with it. If I'm not mistaken, each portion of New Edition score a number one hit on the R&B charts away from each other: Bobby had like five or six, I'm not too certain. Ralph had one Johnny had two BBD had two They were all successful with their solo/side projects. Not even the Jackson 5 could own up to that shit!

Ralph actually had lesser success than people expected even though he did do decently for a while. I think Johnny was the second best-selling solo act of New Edition.

The same thing happened with Bobby as everywhere else she had ever been in contact with. All sense of rhythm and funk just quickly disappeared. Maybe Bell, Biv, Devoe was warning him when they released the song "Poison". . . . [Edited 9/26/07 22:09pm] Andy is a four letter word.

With her voice and Rick's funk, they could have made some great music together. I can just see her now on stage dressed in a slutty outfit with those skinny chicken legs of hers.
