DONNA SUMMER TO WORK WITH THE FREEMASONS ON THE NEW ALBUM. The next Beyonce and Donna Summer albums are going to be pretty shit hot
Why? Because they've both asked The Freemasons to put forward some songs. And The Freemasons have said "yes that seems like quite a good idea leave it with us and we'll see what we can do". Or words to that effect. A-mazing. Source: http://www.popjustice.com...9&Itemid=9 (Check on the link the kick-ass remix that they did off an Annie & Dave classic! HOT!)

If Donna makes a new album with anyone, I'll be happy...unless she does it with Justin and Timberlake....

I think Donna's got a brain. She won't work with just anybody. I would hope she'd work with Mark Ronson though, I feel he has what it takes to bring her to today's scene without forsaking her legendary sound. Speaking of Donna, I was rocking to "Dinner with Gershwin" last night.

Justin and Timberlake? I think Vinny meant to say Timbaland. [Edited 9/24/07 17:14pm]

Forget it! I've been hearing about a new Donna Summer album since 2001 and chances are it will remain on the shelf

the Freemasons? what? i'm guessing this is some hip new production team and not the Freemasons I'm thinking of "Half of what I say is meaningless; but I say it so that the other half may reach you." - Kahlil Gibran

Funny I never heard she was putting out a new ALBUM in '01, I heard it in '05 when "I Got Your Love" came out. Some music that was to be on the album was (and can still be heard) on her official website. Some songs like "Adonai" and some beautiful R&B ballad (forgot the name of it) was playing. I'm still looking forward to it... maybe more than Michael.

I'm kinda having mixed thoughts about it, though.

Donna's actually a busy woman, I mean, she's been planning so much stuff before she could get down to finish a record. She had to find a record label, first of all since Sony wasn't supporting her at all, then she had to do her biography, she was trying to do a play, she participated in guest spots on tribute albums, yadda, yadda, yadda. I wouldn't put Donna at fault totally here. Hopefully an album will be out next year. My fingers are crossed!

I feel the same way.I love Donna, but I'm not gonna hold my breath waiting for new music for her. She's forever "working on a new album" and yet it never seems to materialize The latest rumor is that her new CD will be released in spring 2008.We'll see...

Actually,Donna has been planning to release a new album for almost a decade now.In 1999,she signed with Epic/Sony and released the 'Live And More:Encore' CD.By the end of the year, she was in the studio working on a new album. There were rumors that she would be working with producers like Lauryn Hill,Linda Perry and others.Between 1999 and 2003,over 30 tracks were recorded for an album that was tentatively titled 'Angel': You're So Beautiful Angel I Got Your Love Valley Of The Moon Tearing Down The Berlin Wall Til You Get It Work It Rain On My Shoulders Only Words Adonai Not A Day A few of these songs have been released ("You're So Beautiful" and "I Got Your Love") and until recently,a few others could be heard on her official site. The album was never released and Donna was dropped from Sony in 2003.This is why I won't get excited about a new CD until I have it in my hands Donna has been down this road several times before....sign with a label, start work on an album and then it gets canned. It's very frustrating but I won't lose hope.

In a recent interview, she did say that she would be working with some "young" songwriters and producers but she wouldn't elaborate. She also said that she would include some world music,Indian music and a few Marvin Gaye covers on the album sounds like she's gonna mix it up and try some new styles. I think,at this point, she should just do a simple dance/electronica album...like Cher's "Believe" or Madonna's "Confessions On A Dancefloor".Nothing too heavy or serious. Her main audience these days is dance music fans.

Considering all the problems she's had with major record labels (Casablanca in the late 70s...Geffen all throughout the 80s and so on...),I wonder why she simply doesn't release her music independently? She has a great official website (which is down at the moment) and she has a sizable fanbase that would buy anything she releases. She could compile the recent tracks from the aborted 'Angel' project and release a CD on her site.Hell, even her husband releases his music independently on his own site ( www.BruceSudano.com ).Not too long ago,he released an album titled 'Rainy Day Soul'.
