By contrast Youtube linked onto some 1992 performances of the same song and the decline in his voice is stark. As for the 1984 performance I have to say the brothers are just getting in the way. Their backing vocals add nothing to the song and their presence on the stage is distracting attention away from the star, Michael. He also seems much more relaxed in the 1987 performances. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”
