So who the hell was that man on camera inside the house saying he was from the mortgage company and that they had already reposessed the house? Why was this reported on national news programs? This is not comparable to ongoing speculation about what may happen with MJ's house. This was reported as something that HAD ALREADY happened. Bare in mind Five Star bought that mansion after only one big hit album. They presumed there would be many more and they got the mortgage on that assumption. When the money stopped rolling in (which it did), how do you think they kept up the payments on the 10 Ferraris, Lamburginis, and the multi million pound house itself? Remember, they weren't really THAT big, yet they were living like royalty. How was that possible? They did it all on credit, that's how. Stedman himself said that it was a big fantasy world. They were fantasising they had more money than they actually did. Ask yourself, why did they not buy a similar mansion in the US if they only left to escape the British press? The answer is because they didn't have the money. lol

first, slow your roll. secondly, did i ever deny they had financial hardships? so those long arse run on sentences were made for not.

all i am saying is that its plausible that the guy who climbed the fence and claimed to be a rep with the bank was in fact a fake. sure, they had financial burdens. so what? and if Stedmam, and the rest of the family, admit they were living a fantasy and spending beyond their means...why lie about the foreclosure? they wouldn't be the first celebs to loose it all. (hi there tlc, toni braxton and many many others).

I would believe that if it was just reported in tabloids, but it wasn't. It made television too, back in the days when those type of celebrity stories were nowhere near as common, particularly in the UK. Also, look at the hesitant, solemn expressions on the faces of the members when they deny there was a reposession. They look like they've been confronted with a shameful secret from the past, and the fact that the program makers contrasted their denials with footage contradicting their story means the group was either being framed yet again (the poor dears) by the horrible media, or the program makers smelt a whiff of bullshit.

contrasting their denials? they showed the guy jump the fence and make a claim that he was a rep with the bank. once again, its plausible that it was put on for show. did i miss something?

You may have, yes. They showed a grainy still photograph of someone climbing the fence. But after they showed the family denying there was a repossession, they showed clear news footage of someone saying "I represent the mortgage company, we reposessed the house yesterday". It's one thing to fake a photo, but another thing all together to fake news footage.

THE FUNNY THING IS.....STEADMAN LOOKS NOTHING LIKE MICHAEL!!!!! HE LOOKS MORE LIKE JERMAINE, JUST NOT AS "GREAZY" (WORD TO CHRIS ROCK!!!!) OR MORE LIKE THE LATE GREAT ACTOR CALVIN LOCKHART (THE "OG" BIGGY SMALLS!!!). THAT'S LIKE SAYIN' JESSE JOHNSON "LOOKS" LIKE MICHAEL JACKSON!!!!! GTFOH!!!!!

I suggest you get a picture of Calvin Lockhart, because Steadman certainly doesn't look like him:

I can see the passing resemblance to Jermaine in some of the photos, but he also has a much stronger resemblance to Michael Jackson before MJ went nuts with the plastic surgeries. He also was going for that androgynous look popularized by MJ.

I don't why is it hard for some people to believe Five Star went bankrupt circa 1990. Like midnightmover said, they evidently wrote checks their royalties couldn't cash -- the group wasn't that successful but in that documentary they were spending money as if their first album had "Thriller"-like success. The hits dried up (which weren't THAT big to begin with) and they moved to the United States to get away from the humiliation.

Also, keep in mind bankruptcy is not something most people are going to be proud of. I expect some very image-conscious and spendthrift people like Five Star to deny it and save face (the whole "man pretending to foreclose on their house" argument sounds weak).

Exactly, the media mostly (and "mostly" meaning "99.99 percent of the time") do not invent stories and certainly would not pay some man to pretend he is from a mortgage company. Not only that, you're talking about a newspaper reporting it and a television station with a reporter camped outside the house breaking the story -- so you have at least two media reporting it that it did happen.

Most media look at each other as competition, so I can't see a newspaper and a TV station corraborating to falsify a story. And if it was an error, then why haven't you ever heard of Five Star suing those journalism entities for libel?

And if it is "staged," then what was the deal with the photos of the moving company taking furniture out of the house? You're not telling me the media paid some people to do that, either. The man wearing the suit climbing the fence in the still photo could have been there to serve the court order for the foreclosure (NOTE: He not necessarily is the same man who spoke to the media about the bank repossessing the house).
