I HATE my MTV!

I pretty much stopped watching MTV a couple of years ago, but I was flipping through TV channels on my remote this weekend, and as I went by MTV, I noticed that they were showing reruns of "So You Think You Can Dance" all weekend. WTF!?! disbelief I know they've gone to crap the past few years, but it's like the executives who are programming this channel aren't even trying to show anything worthwhile anymore. What are they going to show next weekend? The Bachelor? Age of Love? Hell's Kitchen? According To Jim? mad Will somebody please fire the current people running MTV and bring in some new blood to redo the programming?

And while I'm at it, I was in the bookstore this weekend, and I noticed that the cover of Rolling Stone magazine had a feature about Hunter S. Thompson, while Spin magazine had the Sex Pistols on their cover and several headlines about 1977: The Year Punk Exploded. Now I don't mind punk rock, and I know that both Rolling Stone and Spin magazines aren't nearly as relevant about the music scene as they used to be, but does the music scene suck so badly right now that they can't find an up-and-coming band to put on the cover?

I miss the MTV of the 80s and 90s. They were such a force in popular culture.
Now, ewwww!

I looked at the weekend schedule this past weekend, and they did not air ONE! music video in the entire weekend. not a single one, not even at 4am. nothing!

WTF!?!?!

I woudn't be so angry if they just fessed up, and stoped calling themselves MTV

Now ...It's just bad TV. UPN kicks it in the A...But the beginning of the end began when they sold their soul backing no-talents like Brit, Backstreet bums and Jessica Simpson

MTV left me, or I left it, over a decade ago.

I stopped watching it in the early 1990s right after that dance show ended with Downtown Julie Brown. They used to play some decent videos throughout the day also. Then they went to complete bullshit with all those unplugged accoustical concerts and shit hop videos. Gradually, they weeded out all videos altogether.

I switched over to VH1 in the mid 90s which had great shows like 8 Track Flashback, The Big 80s, Pop Up Video, old American Bandstand episodes, old Solid Gold episodes, old Don Kirshner's Rock Concert episodes, old Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve episodes, old Cher episodes, etc. Behind The Music was great too until they started doing stories on 90s artists. Now VH1 ain't shit either.

I like some of the shows they have, but I would rather have music.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

I've been saying this a long time ago that they should stop calling it MTV. It's not even about the music anymore.

But I still can't stop watching "The Real World". boxed
