Im sorry but some people really are talking rubbish.

White MJ fans have a problem that Mike used to have dark skin? biggrin What? We all know the reasons behind the change, yes MJ did have treatment done to even out his skin tone to white, as a last resort. Mike had a severe case of vitiligo, as has been confirmed by his doctor.

The fact that a very large group of his fans are black completly blows up the fact that black people dont support him anymore because of his looks, not all people are incredibly ignorent, unlike some people in this thread.

Is vitiligo another name for bleaching cream?

If Michael has so many black fans, how comes during the trial most of the fans supporting him outside the court were non-black, you would have thought that's would be the time they would have come out in full force to show they really support him, infact most of the fans were white and many were from outside America. Sure, Michael still has black fans, but if you listen to black, urban radio it is the "Old" vintage Michael they still hanker over, MJ from 69 to 84.

My radio station plays mostly solo MJ tracks from "Off the Wall" up to "Butterflies".I hardly hear J5 tracks unless it's during a '70s day and Jacksons tracks when it comes to the '80s but mostly on weekdays, usually "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)", "Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough", "Rock With You" and "The Way You Make Me Feel" gets the most play.

Do you ever visit youth urban forums on the Internet? Unlike you, there are a number of people (young, middle-aged, old, African-American, Caucasian, Asian-American, East Asian, South Asian, European, African) who like the entire span of his catalog. No offense, but I wish you would stop with the "Everything after Thriller is awful except for "Stranger in Moscow"; people who disagree are either musical morons or racists. Michael Jackson is a soul man; he should not sing rock songs." It is tiring. You have said this approximately 10,000,000 times. We get it.

Moreover, your implied argument that black fans like ONLY his "vintage" music is invalid because a number of orgers who are black like post-Thriller music as well. Again check out youth urban forums on the Internet. Or if you have time, check out college campuses across the US.

Well, most black radio I listen to if MJ comes on it's usually from the circa late 70s/early 80s era, i.e. The Jacksons era to Thriller. And although I rarely go clubbing nowadays, but when I do go to clubs, which are usually black clubs and they do decide to play MJ it's rarely anything post Off The Wall.

I am not generalizing, even fans themselves have admitted most of his popularity today, comes from Europe and Asia, especially Japan. Now there ain't that many black people in Japan, and although Europe as a sizeable black, population the fact of the matter is it is still 90% white. The fact of the matter the cornerstone of Michael Jackson fanbase which initially was black, shifted a long time ago.

So what is your point? Does this fact offend you so much?

Other people who are not black like his music. But a number of people who are black still like his music. Just because you do not like his music post-Thriller does not mean other black people do not. Moreover, you belong to the generation who grew up with Michael Jackson. This is probably shocking to you but there are black teenagers and those in their twenties who like his post-Thriller music as well.

But these are certain radio stations. Other urban radio stations play his music up to Invincible era as well. Is anyone going to deny that these urban radio stations embraced songs such as "Butterflies"? A number of them even played "Break of Dawn" and "Heaven Can Wait."

I think there is a portion of blacks who don't dig anything Mike did after "Thriller" or much less after "Off the Wall" but there's another good portion of us who dig the stuff after those albums even if those albums ("Bad", "Dangerous", "HIStory", "Invincible") weren't as favorable as those two albums and his J5/Jacksons/Motown solo work.

I am not saying every single black person hates Michael, far from it. But being black myself and growing up within the black community on the Jackson 5/Jacksons and Michael Jackson solo careers, I have seen him go from where practically everyone and their mama loved Michael to large porportions of that community being ashamed of him, now. And this is more than people just growing up and moving on with their lives. It goes much deeper than that.

You seem to have a huge problem with Michael Jackson and mention this as often as you can. The fact is people who are not black like his music. The fact is there is a new generation of black Americans who like his music.

or

the fuck does the black community have anything to do with this thread.
As a person who is part black and has lived in harlem and has dealt with my share of racism... From the black community...
Its my assumption that the black community abandoned MJ...
His skin color changed, and he gave no variable explanation for it...
so they said to hell with him...
Alot of black folks love mj, but hold that secret racist animosity towards him...
because to them he kinda betrayed the culture...
as if their culture is so sacred... when they've abandone it themselves...
Not to generalize but black people are the most racistly ludicrous cats...
I've seen and heard things like half breeds, disgrace the community (hell even light skins)
They fight with themselves 90% of the time

So just because MJ isn't accepted anymore by the black community
doesn't mean shit
Cause look around...
The black community aint shit...
The real question is What has MJ done for the community...
Alot... shelled out cash to save Gary indiana...
Bought, than donated new text books for inner city kids in L.A. NJ and NYC...
when he bought the atv catalogue, All the black artist on it , he gave them their publishing back... including the originator Little Richard...

Preach!!!

Michael has given back to his community. In fact, Michael has donated to more charities (including many for inner city children) than any pop star in history but of course people just love to overlook this. He's supported the NAACP, he supported the million man march ( which is something that most people don't know) and who payed for David Ruffin's funeral when no one else could or would? That's right Michael and Aretha Franklin (tho MJ payed for most of it).

I don't know where some of u are getting this idea that all black people have turned against MJ though. It is true that a lot of black people no longer like him 'cause they feel he is a sell out but the whole black community is not against MJ.

I mean who mainly supported his last album "Invincible"? Mostly black people and black radio. It's because of black radio that "Butterflies" with no video and an official release managed to get to #14 on the charts. People like Steve Harvey were giving him a lot of airplay and BET is still supportive of him.

Who supported Michael during the trial also? Where the hell were all these white people he was supposedly "friends" with during this time? Most of them didn't have s*it to say during the trial yet I saw people like Rick James, Lionel Richie,Usher, LL Cool J, TLC, and others get on TV and in the newspapers and defend Michael. This is something I hope MJ remembers as well who was really there supporting him during what was most likely the worse time in his life.

When he went to James Brown funeral in Augusta, Georgia where may I also add that he was one of the FEW celebrities who actually bothered to show up, I saw that the whole entire place (which was around 95% black) went crazy and stood up and clapped for him when he arrived. I saw when he went back to Gary, Indiana 4 years ago how many people from the city came to greet him. You could tell they were proud and these were mostly black people i'm talking about here.

I mean ask most of these young black artists in the music biz who they look up to and guess who they'll say? I mean why don't u go ask Ne-Yo, Ciara, Chris Brown, Lloyd, Ginuwine, Will.I.AM, Beyonce and others if they are ashamed of Michael and see what they tell you.

So no, contrary to what some of u may think not every black person hates Michael or is ashamed of him. Where I live which is a mostly black neighboorhood I hear MJ's music quite often playing out of people's homes and car stereos. I am black and am obviously a big Michael fan and just do not like being included in these silly generalizations at all.

Why don't you guys learn how to read.

Did I say Michael has No black friends? No I didn't.

The people who supported him during the trial were mainly his family, who else were going to support him?

Black artists continue to admire Michael we know that, he has been a strong influence on black music and it can never be denied.

Black radio and clubs continues to play his music, but you know what? It's rarely anything from Bad, Dangerous or History, mainly from the Off The Wall/ Thriller/ Jackson eras.

And yes he still has black fans, no one said every single black person hated him. But at the same time there are huge amounts of people in the black community that look upon him in disdain!!
