Eddie Vedder - Into The Wild

I just picked this one up today on a recommendation from a friend. All I can say is I can't stop playing it. Easily one of the best releases this year. There is not one weak track. Any fans of folk rock will like this...not Pearl Jamish at all (although I've been a fan of PJ since Ten).

If anyone is the slightest bit interested...check it out. I almost guarantee you will like this.

Totally agree, i did a post a few days back on it. One of the best records of this year easily. And the movie is done by one of the best director/actors of the last 25 years Sean Penn.

I really enjoyed the album too. I love that Eddie Vedder pulled a Prince and wrote most (all but 2) and played almost all the instruments, etc.

I am slightly bummed because I bought the fan club CD and apparently there is an extended version that wasn't offered to us (4 additional songs). But I did get a t-shirt with it.
Appreciation is a wonderful thing: It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.. (Voltaire)

I never was a Pearl Jam fan, but I've heard nothing but good things about this.
I'm really surprised to say, I wanna check it out.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

you know i sort of hated them when Ten came out.....then by accident heard one of their albums that didn't sell too well (in fact that is all their stuff after Ten)

then i was surprised by how much i liked it

then they kept releasing quality stuff that wasn't on the top ten and they didn't really have many hits

then i saw them live and became an instant fan

Eddie is just the coolest guy and very humble.....and their band is tight

Yeah i got into to them after TEN and after the whole grunge thing died down and the whole Kurt Cobain "is god" years were over for the world. Then i took my time and realized that this was one of the best Rock bands out there and Eddie Vedder is right up there with Michael Stipe in terms of crafting lyrics, not surprising they are best friends and Eddie's favorite album ever is "Murmur" by REM. As far as them selling, they have sold alot more than many think, and who can forget them releasing almost every concert they played. Heres Pearl Jams certified RIAA sales in america.

Ten - 12 million
VS- 7 million
Vitalogy- 5 million
No Code- 1 million
Yield- 1 million
Live on two legs- 1 million
Rear View Mirror (best of)- 1 million
Lost Dogs- Gold
Riot Act- Gold
Binauaral-Gold
Pearl Jam (latest)- Gold

Another reason i think for their steady sales are the fact that they have a catalog, i dont think anyone realizes how important having a catalog is.

I really dig Vs the most...I liked Ten but Vs blew me away. All of them are great but I still listen to Vs as much now as I did then.

Also, Into the Wild is getting better the more I listen to it. Hard Sun is one awesome track.

How is this related to Michael Jackson?

I read this book, I'd like to see the movie. I heard the music really fits it well.

The music has me interested in reading the book and seeing the movie. I can't remember a soundtrack doing that to me before.

The MJ comment... lol...seriously if I see another thread on that freak I am afraid my days are numbered here at the Org.

Yeah i totally agree, i saw Sean Penn recently on an interview with Charlie Rose and he had Eddie Vedder with him , which is rare to get Eddie to speak to anyone. But i wanted to see this mainly for Sean's association with it, anything he does pretty much is amazing work, directing or acting, and Eddie, top notch guy. AS for MJ gotta agree 100%, so many threads from some one who hasnt had a recording in almost 7 years and probably wont for another few years.

Yet you just created a thread on Michael Jackson a short time ago... I need to go make more threads on Celine Dion. She is coming out with an album soon.... cool

Actually it was about Britney, but used him as a view point. How many threads are there going to be about a Michael Jackson album that isnt going to come out? Its worse than Guns N Roses at this point and Lauryn Hill put together, i wish everyone that isnt going to record would just do a "Billy Joel" and really retire, at least his fans know its pretty much a done deal he will never record new music.

My impression from the book on this guy was kind of mixed. I appreciate the rejection of society and getting back to nature, but he approached it kind of like an angry young man, which is to say he acted rashly.

Sort of like 2Pac & Cobain, they were interesting figures, but kind of morons in a brilliant way. lol

Have any of you heard last year's xmas single from Pearl Jam? One of the songs on it is Ed in a hotel room solo, it's called Gone, and it is gorgeous. If this album is anything like that I can't wait to hear it.
Keep your headphones on.
