The final song during Inland Empire has left me utterly wrecked, in a good way.



Who else has taken notice of this gorgeous little gem?

This is that ethereal, cocteau twins-ish track, right? I don't like it much, to be perfectly honest...the music's fine, but the vocals are too pretty and wispy for my tastes. I don't care for it within the context of the movie, so I'd expect if I heard it on its own I'd like it even less.

That doesn't spoil the movie for me at all, though. I've probably watched it a good 15 times now, more or less, so it's pretty safe to say I'm kinda obsessed with that thing.

Well, my issues with female vocalists, particularly ones that do the ambiently pretty new age thing, are pretty well documented at this point, so I didn't think my opinion would be a surprise to you.

I also have to mention that I haven't watched the film start to finish 15 times. However, I've picked up the habit of leaving it running while I'm puttering around the apartment, and I figure if you add together all the bits and pieces I've seen cumulatively I probably have effectively seen it 15 times.

I'm midway through the bonus disc and it's just as compelling as the film itself.

I had no idea I loved Laura Dern this much!

I haven't made it through any of the bonus features yet, which is odd for me - I'm generally a total whore for such things. I'm still too wrapped up in the movie itself. Not that I'm trying to make sense of it or anything - fat chance of that happening - but I just like looking at it so much. There's barely a minute of it that I don't find compelling, really.

And yeah, I'd never given Laura Dern much thought over the years, but this film is pretty much a tour de force for her.

the extra scenes really do help you understand what the hells was going on in the film. ive only watched it twice but i think i might put it on once i get home...

as for the song, i not sure which one it is.

Dude, do you own it? Pop it in and put on the featurette "More Things That Happened". It's like an extra hour of completed footage with full editing, score, soundtrack, everything. It's not just a bunch of deleted scenes thrown together. It's like a whole quarter of the movie intact, but separate. You'll love it!

Bought it the day it was released. I've heard about that particular featurette - I just haven't worked my way up to watching it yet. I'll probably take a stab at it next weekend.

Doesn't it open with the same track? I LOVED it ~ for me it added another slice to the "emotional landscape" of the film. It was a necessary ethereal breath from the dementia .

Love it. Love the movie. Awesome. It really evokes a certain mood opening the movie, and a completely different one closing it.
