The more I look at it, the more it seems like LaBelle did overreact. Apparently, she didn't like being upstaged by some random guy in the audience who took a joke too far for her taste. The ironic part is that LaBelle went into some diatribe about being disrespectful to women just after she was singing a song about being a prostitute.

In all honesty, it looked like the guy thought LaBelle was going to play along with his comment and didn't realize she went into full-bitch/diva mode until she asked him to leave. However, she does realize she was the only one in the audience who took it too seriously, hence the apology.

Would I handle this situation better?

To be honest, this situation would probably be handled awkwardly by me the first time.

But I would garner experience and have plenty of time to ponder the way I should have handled it so that the next fool would be stripped with the precision of a brain surgeon.

Lil Kim and other chicks (Trina, Destiny's Child, ect) are know to dace, or should I say grind on men they invite on the stage with them, That was what she meant my the Lil' Kim comment.

More than a decade ago, she graced a black journalists' national convention session (it was being held in Philly).

She interrupted the session to complain about her hip. Her then-husband tried to shush her and move her away from talking about her health.

She was awesome then and still is. She was reacquainting folks with cross-generational decorum and the difference between entertainment and real life.

It seemed to me it was typical fan/entertainer interaction you see at a concert -- and particularly one of LaBelle's concerts, where she pulls men on stage for a little sing-along interaction. She thought she was upstaged, which is why she ranted for several minutes -- including ranting AFTER he left the stage.

Oh yeah, I recall LaBelle saying something about "pimp-slapping" him. I guess that's not disrespectful to someone who obviously wanted to see her in concert, huh?

You would have a point if the man was actually trying to grind on her or called her "bitch" or "ho," but I did not see anything different I've typically seen from a fan of hers in concert. I've seen her act more intimately in concerts with male singers like Gerald Levert, Luther Vandross and El DeBarge.

Like I said, this is LaBelle having her diva/bitch moment. She can sing a song about selling snatch and asking men to come upstage with her for some interaction, but let someone she thinks is unworthy try to upstage her and she reads him. She likely killed the rest of the concert experience for the audience with the tactic, because she went too far with that.

I'm kinda torn on this

On the one hand,the guy was direspectful.I would NEVER go onstage with Patti LaBelle and act that way.She would get my utmost respect.

On the other hand,I feel like it would have been best for her to just laugh it off,roll her eyes and say "Next!" The guy was just young and dumb,lol.

But,I'm glad she gave him a chance to redeem himself.Happy endings are cool,lol.
