The Deele Here's a band I never hear anyone discuss. To tell you the turth I only recently go into them when I picked up their GH CD. They had some hot trax like "body talk", "Surrender" and "Video Villain". Seems like they were also doing the funky new wave that I love so much. Anyone else digging them??

I also like "Material Thangz", "Stimulate", "Crazy Bout'cha" "Two Occasions". I saw them in concert when they came to 1st Ave niteclub in the 80's. They put on a good show.

They've been discussed before.
L.A. Reid and Babyface came out of that band. Shoot 'Em Up Movies was another cool tune. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Hell heah, The Deele were great. My favorites are:
Body Talk Material Thangz Can U Dance Hip Chic Babyface should have stuck his ass with this group. He wouldn't have become near as dull as he became. Andy is a four letter word.

Hip Chic is the bomb as weol as material thangz. it's true that babyface became a lot more generic after this band but look what id did for his career. he's considered a musical genius now. so they're sound isn't too late 80's for you?

i think you're absolutely right but i even hear some Klymaxx influence as well. which reverts back to the Time or JJ & TL. I still dig the Deele. I think their first LP was more reflective of Midnight Star via the Calloways. [Edited 9/13/07 16:28pm]

That actually was Babyface's solo song, "I Love You Babe." The song was on his debut album, "Lovers." THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. I loved the deele's first album which is classic.
They are probably the poster child for 80's black hair bands. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

No, they don't sound too late 80s for me. They are funk, regardless of the era it was recorded in. The late 80s stuff I hate is the crossover, weaker Shitney Houston influenced pop stuff. I love the funk that was recorded in the late 80s with no intention of crossing over (the little that existed during that era). . . [Edited 9/13/07 22:16pm] Andy is a four letter word.

why why why wasn't that a single?! SOLAR was known for not releasing good songs as singles. Most of the Whispers stuff should have been singles. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

The only song I really got into by them was "Two Occasions" didn't really like the other stuff. Now this is the song i hated by the deele. Too pop and mushy. It is also probably the song that spelled the end for the deele. After that the l.a and babyface production train was on which was probably a good thing if they were gonna push the early funk songs that they were known for to the side for the cheesy pop sound of two occasions. Shoot em up movies was okay. Don't laugh at my funk

I would even go so far as to say it's one of the worst songs of the 80's....unbelievably corny. [Edited 9/14/07 22:15pm]
