30th anniversary of Marc Bolan's death

The man behind T.Rex died on the 16th of september in 1977

I know there must be at least a few Bolan fans here.
Do you have any special plans for tomorrow?

I was thinking about listening through all the Tyrannosaurus Rex and T.Rex albums in chronological order.

Keep a little Marc in your heart!
I know it's rude, she's a dude, but all I want is easy action baby! -Marc Bolan

I am beginning to explore some of Bolan's music. While a little repetitive, you can't beat tunes like '20th Century Boy', 'Get It On', 'Hot Love' etc.

As a performer, he was on an equal 'preening' level with the likes of Jagger and Prince! biggrin

Electric Warrior and The Slider and are two masterpieces, and Bolan himself was a rock and roll animal, a larger-than-life performer.
Nevertheless, I have always thought that Bolan's talent was limited; I mean, after he got the glam-rock formula, he never changed his musical approach (well, in fact he made it more bombastic and over-the-top, which isn't necessarily a smart move rolleyes), so he quickly became a novelty act...the post-Tanx albums are pure kitsch:-?

But make no mistake, the folky pre-Electric Warrior albums are by far more interesting and heartfelt than his 74-77 work.
