Sorry but i don't get it. Are we supposed to feel sorry for Madonna now?

no, it's about how much of a douchebag Lily Allen is. [Edited 9/17/07 23:28pm] "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Papa Don't Preach and Open Your Heart were also songs that started out as something else. But I cant' recall what their names were at the moment. The same is true of Tell Me. That was a song by her brother-in-law who's a serious singer-songwriter type. You can tell the lyrics are a bit too imaginative to be Madonna's work. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

utopia7 said: damn seems like these young bucks are disrespecting artists who paved the way they stand on right now I like that. There is too much blind reverence out there. When someone has been as succesful as Madonna has for so long, then other public figures are usually careful not to say anything critical. The same goes for commentators and magazine writers. This means the average schmuck out there thinks the said artist must be naturally great, no matter how shit the work is, because they see the reverence and say to themselves, "Well, if everyone agrees this person's great, then I guess they must be". That's why it's good when someone like Lily (who is generally an annoying brat by the way) says the unsayable and points out when the emperor is wearing no clothes. Somehow, I think that ultimately Ma-hag-da could care LESS at this point. Besides, she herself went through a publicaly rebellious stage where she got on her elders' nerves, too. Let us not forget her invitation to dinner with Streisand as a young upstart and ordering the most expensive food on the menu in ridiculous quantities. Or the time she charged past Patti Labelle at an awards cermony and stomped on her foot without saying excuse me (for which Patti put her on B-LAST and made her apologize ) The past exploits of our now middle aged Grandmaw-donna as a young enfant terrible are vast, wide, and well-documented. I imagine if anyone would be able to shrug it off it would be her, at least once she got past her rather normal, middle-aged, stern mother reaction to being interrupted...those of you who saw her last documentary ("...Secret") remember how she was with those kids of hers at the hotel, " ..PICK UP THOSE SHOES! , and how she was with baby Rocco when she asked, "Rocco, who's the queen?" and sure enough he replied "MOMMY's the QUEEN! "...an old girl was like, that's right, baby. Mommy's the queen . Who ever thought our annoying assed, whorish publicity hound Madonna who spent a lifetime thumbing her nose at conventional middle age behaviors would eventually grow up and become one of the very folks that espouses those behaviors? If you ask me, I'd bet anything she looks some of these young artists, and after initially want to slap them silly, remembers her own wilder days and thinks 'gawd I remember when I was that young and annoying ' . Oddly aand rather cutely enough, I believe I have heard her say a paraphrase of that on occasion.
But anyhoo, as for what about Lily Allen? Agh, she's just young and drunk on the stupidity of youth and success. All she really needs is a good ass whoppin by a loved one who cares & then she'll probably be a'ight
