a-Ha play "Free" Concert in Kiel Germany Almost 2 years after the release of their Latest cd "Analogue", a-Ha closed that chapter of their career with a FREE live concert in Germany, that was UNLIKE anything every seen before, and once again was shown live on MSN, and like they did in 2001 the live stream almost knocked the network out again. By the way their 2001 live streaming concert is the most viewed online concert ever. a-Ha will now retreat to the studio to finish up there 10th album due out in 2008.
Setlist: I've Been Losing You Stay on These Roads Minor Earth Major Sky Scoundrel Days I Call Your Name Move to Memphis #9 Dream Lamb to the Slaughter Hunting High and Low Take on Me Crying in the Rain Summer Moved On The Living Daylights Analogue The Sun Always Shines on TV The concert took place on a massive stage erected in the Kiel Harbor. Above the stage was a large screen made up of long vertical banners on which various images were projected during the show, including some 'Take on Me' style drawings of the band in real-time. Although clearly relaxed and enjoying the performance, the band were not very talkative between songs, instead focusing on delivering the best sound possible. There was a funny moment following 'Lamb to the Slaughter' when Magne said, "That's the first time we've had a ship leave in the middle of a concert." though a-ha isnt from Germany they have found this to be one of their biggest followings. To date the UK,Norway,Germany and South America are a-Ha's biggest fan bases. their 1991 concert in South America to 191,000 (paying) fans is the biggest paying audience ever by anyone in history. A collage from todays show "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Shoot, I guess I'm missing the party! I remember their earliest pop hits, but I haven't heard anything for years! Can you recommend one or two albums I should check out? For me a-Ha since 1988 is a totally different band than they were, i wouldnt even know how to label their sound except that "their" sound is the sound that everyone like Coldplay,Keane,Snow Patrol has made careers out of. To me their best work since they re-formed from their 1994-98 break, would be 2000's "Minor Earth Major Sky" and 2005's "Analogue". also very strong is 2002's "Lifelines" but you might wanna go with "analogue" then to "Minor Earth Major Sky". Obviously they are imports only since they dont have distribution in america, though signed to Universal in all other countries. Heres a link to "Summer Moved on" from their 2001 "homecoming" show in Norway, this is from their 2000 album, but the unique thing is that this song features the longest note held on record at 21 seconds (its true, its in the guiness book) and this is the live version for anyone that things its a fake effect in the studio....
http://www.youtube.com/wa...HPhQM5lb28 The note comes towards the end of the song after the solo "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Thanks for the advice! Maybe I'll get lucky and find one or both at a good price. "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

theres tons of clips on Youtube of them from recent stuff, interviews and videos and performances, thank god, since its tough that my favorite band ever, has no connection in this country, if it werent for youtube and imports who knows. I rediscovered a-ha via the internet around the time "Summer Moved On" came out. It was the first thing I had heard from them since "The Living Daylights". And it just blew me away! I just love that they are still making [not just] great records [but hits] after 20+ years inspite of the fact that the US wrote them off as one-hit-wonders after "Take On Me". ROCK ON!!!
