OHIO PLAYERS APPRECIATION THREAD One of the more influential bands in soul music, The Ohio Players were among the top funk bands of the mid-'70s. Known for their sexually provocative album covers, this Dayton, Ohio, band were accalimed for their slinky, horn-powered grooves and impeccable musicianship. THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS! | |

I've ran SEVERAL threads on here about these cats. Hands down, one of my all time favorite bands. In any genre. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

The Ohio Players are often overlooked on how influential they were on other popular bands of the 70's,..i.e. The Commodores and E,W & F. And the 80's, i.e. Prince and Cameo. Anbody who's hip to the song "It's Hell" on their "Fire" album well hear just how much "Computer Blue" bites off of that. As well as the end of Let's Go Crazy. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

The Ohio Players are the bomb
Their post-Honey albums are tragically underrated, Contradiction, Angel, Jass-Ay-Lay-Dee and Tenderness are all good albums It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.
