1980s R&B Jam of the Day: Rick James "Dance wit' Me" (1982) Take the best ideas from his hit "You and I" and mix them with Marvin Gaye's "Got to Give It Up" and you've got the lead single from Rick James' "Throwin' Down" album. One of James' biggest hits, this song peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard R&B Singles charts. After "Cold Blooded," this is my favorite song from the King of Punk Funk. THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

Great song from my favorite Rick James album. Andy is a four letter word.

Classic jam, he really did take on a little of Marvin's style with this one and kicked out a funky track, I also love Roy Ayers contribution to the song. Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

The highlite on this cut for me is Danny's solo, he straight kills it!

Co-sign. Danny tears it up on this cut. Great bass line too.
I'm midway thru reading Rick's book. An amazing read.

I just bought the book off of Amazon, I can't wait to get it and start reading. I have heard that the publishers of the book did a half ass job of editing and there are a lot of typos and such throughout, but I can overlook that for ol' Slick Rick! Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

Yeah there are typos but nothing major. Still a great read. Rick tells it like it was. Lots of stuff I never knew about him and the business.
