Anybody remember the show "Dance Fever"? Every Saturday night in the late 70s/early 80s right before "Soul Train" would come on, I would watch "Dance Fever". It was a show that featured amateur dance couples competing and three different celebrity judges each week. The show also featured a different disco artist each week during the late 70s and a different R&B artist each week during the early 80s.
It was a fun show and for many years I enjoyed the weekly Saturday late night lineup in my area of Dance Fever/Soul Train/Saturday Night Live, that is, when I wasn't lucky enough to get a ride to the skating rink. Anybody remember this show? Andy is a four letter word.

I remember very well. I used to love this show. It used to come on Saturday afternoon before Solid Gold in my market. I couldn't wait for 5pm on Saturday.
I didn't know that Merv was hitting on Denny at the time. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

The Merv/Denny sexual harrassment lawsuit was the first thing to come up in the search results. I was like.... . . . [Edited 9/13/07 23:54pm] Andy is a four letter word.

^ I remember this show, but I sure don't remember Zappa being on it!! I wonder what the reaction was at the time? Did he get slagged like Prince did for showing up on AI? I remember this show In my area,it came on Saturday evenings.Very cheesy but sometimes fun to watch. When I think of this show,I think of the 1979 disco song "Boogie Motion" by Beautiful Bend. They used this song as theme music....it played in the background during many episodes. This show was cool during the late 70s disco era,but the concept just didn't work in the 80s,imo.I recall seeing this show in the mid-80s and thinking how ridiculous it had gotten by then, lol.
Dance Fever was created by Merv Griffin. In the late 80s,the (male) host of this show sued Merv for sexual harrassment

I remember Dance Fever. I used to watch just to see the celebrity judges dance at the beginning. I remember an episode when the old man who played Boss Hog on the Dukes Of Hazzard was on there. He dances worse then Bill Cosby.

Wasn't that the show where Janet Jackson came out singing "Dream Street" wearing ten belts around her waist doing her famous shoulder shaking dance back in 85?
