WEMBLEY STADIUM A thread concerning a clip of George Michael at Wembley in one of the other sections inspired me to get on my soapbox for this one.
I went to see George at the new Wembley stadium on the first night and have to say think the venue sucks! It is way too big for concerts and loses the atmosphere - the further you are away from the stage, the less involved you feel. However, I think the worst thing is that it is just as bad as the old stadium was for accessibility. The transport links are just as crap as they were for the old stadium - tube stations are a hike away and the nearby high street is possibly one of the worst parts of London EVER - it could quite easily be a run down part of Cardiff. I think it's laughable that the transport links weren't improved drastically - as one guy has already said, the trek to Wembley had passed its sell by date years ago and you would think that the transport links would have been overhauled. After years of going to Earl's Court and getting off the tube and walking across the road to the venue and now the same with the 02 Arena, a more intimate venue with better transport links is a far happier experience than Wembley. Anyone else have any opinions/experiences? [Edited 9/17/07 17:42pm] [Edited 9/17/07 17:42pm]

You took the wrong tube, mate. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

No I did go to Wembley Park and it still took about 10 mins to walk to the stadium. There were problems with both the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines on the day, which admittedly can't be helped, but I ended up getting the bus because the service was suspended. In my opinion, if you compare the route you'd take from let's say Paddington to Earl's Court, it is far easier to get to Earl's Court. In this day and age, you want these big venues to involve minimal walking and changes. I still don't think it's a fantastic venue in itself for concerts in all honesty but there we are.
