Ndeed!
It was written by keyboardist Don Blackman... I Like Irvine's version, I also love Twennynine's version(featuring Blackman) on their album, "Best Of Friends"....

He wrote "young gifted & black" with Nina Simone did'nt he?
I have a few of his vinyls that I love.
My favourite is "we gettin' down".
Did he do any recrdings in recent years before his tragic death?
I think I only heard the 70's stuff of his.

I knew my gut wouldn't lie to me woot!

And you're right Manki, he wrote Nina's standard,,,I realized this recently.

I wish I knew the circumstances behind his death,,,this subject gets the hush-hush treatment it seems.

The last thing I heard about was his 1999 project, "The Price of Freedom", a memorial for Amadou Diallo with his songs in collaboration with various hip-hop, jazz, funk, and R&B artists...

Me too...I agree, it seems as if people either don't know the whole story, or just don't wanna talk about it...
