Anyway, my father also does not like that. It's the way he grew up. He shakes his head in sadness and says, "IS THIS REALLY ON TV!?". I can't stand up 4 myself cuz he is my father, but I understand where he is coming from.

You can accept a person for who they are whether gay or straight but that does not mean you have to accept a person's alternate lifestyle.

Well, being raised by a male and female married couple ain't what it's cracked up to be either. My mother and father were together and married up until the time I was 17 years old. Those were 17 years of pure hell. The only reason my mother stayed with him that long is because she had four young children and she couldn't afford to raise us on her own without his money. I stayed with my grandmother on my mother's side, every single weekend, every single holiday, and every single summer. In other words, if school was out, I was at her house. Why, because my father (if that's what you want to call him) was so abusive, not only physically, but mentally as well.

My mother was a baptist and my father was some sort of off the wall "cult" religion. All I know is, he never went to church but his religion consisted of reading magazines called "The Plain Truth". His religious beliefs totally clashed with everything on my mother's side of the family. Unlike her side of the family, who was tolerant of his religion, he felt he was always totally 100% right and everyone else was wrong and going to hell for it. He was also the most racist person I have ever come in contact with in my entire life. He would use his little bible scriptures and twist them around in his favor to try to justify his racist beliefs. Now, anyone who knows me, including those who only simply know me from posting on the org, knows that is very apparent that Andy is very much an individual who isn't afraid to stand up for his beliefs and question things instead of just accepting them because "that's the way it is".....so you know that was a major clash between me and that loony toon so-called religious nut father of mine.

As far as I'm considered, I was raised by two women....my mother and my grandmother. Two people of the same sex are very much capable of raising a child and I would much rather have been raised by two people of the same sex than have been exposed to the abusive hell I encountered being raised by two people of the opposite sex. And, by the way, I know a lesbian couple that raised a child and he has grown up to be a fine respectable heterosexual young man who is tolerant and loves all people. The only thing a child needs is either two parents or even a single parent that loves them. That's the difference.

Oh, I am soooo sick of that stale old joke. God also made snakes, diseases, earthquakes, etc. God made a lot things, both good and bad.

My grandmother used to say things like that too. However, older people say a lot of things out of ignorance. When I say "ignorance", I simply mean "not knowing any better". My grandmother used to love light skinned black people but she always thought the darker a black person was, the more evil they were. That's simply how she grew up, in the country in Tennessee. She was around a lot of people in a different time (in the country of course) that didn't know any better and neither did she. All she knew about black people is what was portrayed all over the TV, mostly negative stereotypes and heresay from a bunch of backwoods country people talking about black men raping white women. I had a good time proving her wrong and she eventually saw she was wrong. People are ignorant to other things because they are never exposed to them and never get a chance to see how things really are firsthand, rather than just going by the TV or rumors from people who don't know what they are talking about.

Who doesn't ask for forgiveness? I ask for forgiveness of my sins all the time and so do many other gay people. As for simply being gay, I don't see that as a sin, but since there are so many people who feel so passionatly that it is, I always keep in mind that there is a chance I could be wrong. When I pray about being gay it usually goes something like this....."God, if being gay is a sin, then please forgive me because I truly cannot help and did not choose to be what I am, and you know this because I fought it every step of the way growing up. I know that my sexual acts are a sin, just the same as if I were straight and not married. I can control my sexual acts and forgive me for them, but I cannot control what I am and what I want".

See, we pray also. I really don't think being gay is a sin because a person did not choose and cannot help what they are. However, I do keep my bases covered just in case I'm wrong.
