I hope they get a trillion dollas.
That was a nr.1 song on the billboard. So low to steal a song.

Correction: R. Kelly stole the song, not MJ. He didn't even know about this.

Exactly! I rmmbr clearly when HIStory was released that I was surprised that MJ wasn't listed as co-writer or co-producer for this track (as he was for almost every other track on the album). So clearly MJ has nothing to do with this. "It's better 2 B hated 4 what U R than 2 B loved 4 what U R not."

i agree with you guys. This is Kelly's problem. He brought the song to Michael, and unless they can prove MJ knew it wasn't Kelly's track (which i doubt) then i honestly dont think anyone is gonna think Michael heard that demo and was like "hey, that's the same as a 90 second sythinzer song done by these 2 dude belguims dudes"

first of all.. MJ doesn't need to steal songs... people steal his dance moves, cloths, and money from him all the time....
I blame R Kelly... | |

I am always amazed at how long it takes people who have had their song stolen to come forward. It nearly always happens years after the song was released. Why is that? I am not saying anything is iffy but it just seems odd especially with songs like this which were massive hits.

You Are Not Alone - HIStory
Cry - Invincible One More Chance - Number Ones All written and composed by R.Kelly. I hope Michael Jackson never works with R. Kelly again.

Good point. I am not sure how the legalities surrounding cases like this work. All I know is that this song was not an obscure hit. It charted quite well around the world. [Edited 9/12/07 7:54am]

This reminds me of the debacle surrounding the Madonna song "Justify My Love." Lenny Kravitz "borrowed" much of the lyrics from someone else. That person eventually received co-songwriting credits, I believe.

I think it takes time and *money* to be able to protest. Imagine how many times this must happen and it never gets publicized because the record companies can tie it up in litigation forever to avoid paying out. An individual composer or a small record company can't fight the large music behemoths. In many cases, the original author may indeed go to court immediately but it's hard to prove that something is yours if everyone has heard the stolen version first. The burden of proof is on the claimant and lawyers can murk up a case in so many ways, that many people just give up and shrug their shoulders rather than continue to fight in court after court. Even giants get their material stolen by their *own* record company. In this particular case, I doubt MJ had any clue what R. Kelly did. Jackson must get hundreds of songs presented to him as potential projects. Some people tell me I've got great legs...

That's R. Kelly's problem, not Michael's. "Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart." - Khalil Gibran

at one of the comments:
“where is Ms. Bain screaming out that MJ didn't know about it?” Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

it has NOTHING to do with MJ. R. Kelly was the one that "composed" it.

That someone else was Prince's very own Ingrid Chavez - eventually got songwriting credits after taking Lenny to court..
