Old school "rap" at it's best. Andy is a four letter word.

This is a great song. I wouldn't call it old school rap, though, it sounds more jazz to me.

"ain't black beautiful.....check out the boy mother's love....he quit his job"
This song is hilarious even though she took him back at the end of the song.

love that part love this song I'm not supposed(the calm & collected part)....tosituphereinthedarkwithmirrorsandnomoney(the snappy part). Everytime I hear that part I I miss how the singin' ladies would infuse their personality into their thing like she did. Angela Winbush, Betty Wright, Millie Jackson, Shirley Brown & Barbara Mason did the same too

In the 1970s, a "rap" had a totally different meaning that what the word later became. Back then, a rap was the part of the song where the artist broke down and talked for a little while. It didn't rhyme or anything, they just talked for a while. Lenny Williams had a rap in "Cause I Love You", Shirley Brown had a rap in "Woman To Woman", Millie Jackson was practically the queen of rap. I did a thread on it a few years ago. There are a ton of old songs that contain a "rap". Andy is a four letter word.

It's the type of song that the R&B community of today (if we still have a R&B community ) will never be able to do. [Edited 9/12/07 10:36am]
