Stevie had two different emotions with the two halves of the song.
One half, he's in a nonchalant "forget her" mood. The second, he's wondering where she's went and he's begging her for answers. One of the greatest joints of all time. I dare Kanye to do some shit like that... oh I'm sorry, he actually can't, he sampled this on one of his albums, never mind. And anyway, Kanye ain't part of this topic anyways. No one does it betta than Stevie! My favorite Stevie cut ever. I just love the fact that it has two personalities to the song and the way he confidently sings the verses and lines is just magical. Classic stuff man. Check me out and add me on:

Wait a minute...is Stevie's version a cover?

That song is in my top 5 favorite Stevie songs. A classic from the moment it starts to the moment it ends. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

No, why you say that? I know there was a cover version on Quincy Jones' 1978 album, Sounds...And Stuff Like That. I think it was covered by Patti Austin and Herbie Hancock. But no one can match Stevie's original 1972 classic. Check me out and add me on:

No, why you say that? Because some people commented on Frank McComb's youtube clip of him singing Superwoman that they preferred Donnie Hathaway's version. Nobody can sing this song like donny hathaway I'm sorry even stevie can't touch donny. http://www.youtube.com/wa...nXWt56mRSc [Edited 9/10/07 19:06pm]

Nevermind. It appears that Donny covered Superwoman. Some people just prefer Donny's cover over Stevie's original version.
I need to hear Donny's version because I can't imagine it sounding better than Stevie's. [Edited 9/10/07 19:09pm]

It's a great song without a doubt. It's still so amazing that Stevie was churning out songs of this quality regularly.

I need to hear Donny's version because I can't imagine it sounding better than Stevie's. [Edited 9/10/07 19:09pm] Donny was aight. He actually only did the "Where Were You When I Needed You" part but he didn't riff on it like Stevie did it. Frank is a cool cat but he's wrong for that comment. Stevie's version kicks ASS musically and vocally so HA!

But if I had done it, I would've copied Stevie's, lol. Donny made it more jazzy actually while Stevie's was raw rhythm & blues.

Stevie's always penned some stuff from 1982 and wait until 2005 to put it on the album. I bet you Stevie has like 10000 songs he hasn't recorded yet! Stevie living comfortably from his masters and shit. I can see why he chilled before making "A Time 2 Love". I ain't mad at cha, Stevie. Plus the perfectionist shit.

I wish I could pull up the source, but when Stevie and Dionne Warwick were working on "The Woman in Red" soundtrack, whoever was in charge of Motown at the time, thought it was worthy enough of being released, so Stevie came back with "I Just Called" Yeah he planned that shit At this point in history, we have a choice to make
