I think that chick was her best friend who is always with her. I don't think they're together.

He came out in Europe with the release of Older which was after Listen Without Prejudice.

The drama with that was ditching the teen heartthrob image and being taken as a serious artist.

Freedom is about escaping his Wham! days and the Faith era, not his sexuality.

lol Wrong

George was outed after the faith album. He didn't out himself. At the time he was passing as straight and dated a model, who he said he loved. There was a big hoopla about it because he was huge at the time and the industry was just as fickle about his career going forward. He purposely came out with "Listen Without Prejudice" without being on the album cover and not in the videos. "Freedom 90" addresses wanting the fans to listen to what he had to offer and not judge him based on his sexuality, him accepting the straight pop star image he had in order to sell records and now deciding to be his gay self. I remember the shit like it was yesterday. It is documented "Freedom '90" was the third single and the only one from the album to be supported by a music video; the song was a highly-praised confessional project from George, acknowledging his fortune and luck from his early days with Wham! - referring directly to Andrew Ridgeley as his "buddy" - but maintaining that he was a changed man, with a more cynical and grown-up attitude to the business he was in. The song also alludes heavily to the struggles of being a closet homosexual, and acted as a catalyst to his effort to break free from his publishing contract with Sony Music.

He was already out when "Older" was released. The big incident at that time was park bathroom incident which he spoofed in the video for "Outside." That wasn't when he came out. He was already out

Please, anybody, direct me towards an interview or quote from George Michael prior to his 1998 arrest where he explicitly says he's homosexual. I, for one, don't recall that happening.

Can't it just be because it's a great song.

To win the race? A prettier face!
Brand new clothes and a big fat place
On your rock and roll tv
But today the way i play the game is not the same
No way
Think i'm gonna get me some happy
I think there's something you should know
I think it's time i told you so
There's something deep inside of me
There's someone else i've got to be
Take back your picture in a frame
Take back your singing in the rain
I just hope you understand
Sometimes the clothes do not make the man

went back home got a brand new face
For the boys on mtv
But today the way i play the game has got to change
Oh yeah
Now i'm gonna get myself happy

Those lyrics ring true for many people, especially people in the music industry who are being controlled by the companies and forced to be part of images.

At least, Alicia's my future ex wife, so don't fuck it up lol

"Freedom 90" is about being gay. You didn't get that memo?

Ummm...no its not confused .... Its about George fighting his record company about his music, and his image. They wanted him to sing teenybopper songs, and keep on being this cover boy poster model that he had always been,.... and he did not have that in mind for himself at all. Most of the videos for that album did not have him in it!!! Listen again to the words. And the visuals of him blowing up the faith guitar, jacket, and jukebox! It about him distroying the image that his record company had made for him. Shortly after, he broke his record contract, and sued sony for not letting him make the music he wanted to make. (sounds familiar?? lol) He lost that suit sadly, and it took lots of years and momentum off his career. Sounds alot like Princes troubles really. But George had the guts to sue them unlike Prince though... Anyway, back to the song...and the struggle he speaks about in the lyrics.... It just happends to be that it could fit his sexuality as well, but that is not the meaning of the song....

(Edited to address the other post....)

And....Nope.... You will find no public admission of coming out prior to 1998....because there is none!!! He was not offically out untill that bathroom arrrest in 98....Of couse the undertone of the song could also be seen as him struggling with his sexuality, but offically it was not. I mean really who did not know that he was gay???? Everyone knew, but he did not out himself untill then.

These same words came from a woman (Gorgeous, mind you.) with the baritone and accent often matched by the likes of her male counterpart (In my opinion.)....."Allen Payne". I swear to you that, if I heard her say, "Am I my brother's keeper?", I wouldn't be able to tell the difference without looking. razz

Allen Payne!!! Where did THAT come from?? lol

Haven't heard that name in over a decade.

Ykno Alicia Keys was on the Cosby show too. hmmm

The Curse of New Jack City (AKA Career Suicide)

Everybody in this movie seem to be history... Rock-a-bye-baby...

Allen Payne is now playing second fiddle on some comedy show on cable.

Russell Wong is a vanishing son...

Wesley Snipes is running from the IRS in Africa somewhere.

Judd Nelson was last seen in a quicksand bog in South America chasing some chick named Susan.

Christopher Williams was assaulted by angry Al B.Sure fans--"why'd you gain weight?"

Mario Van Peeples was in Antarctica shooting a documentary on baddasss seals.

And what ever happened to that skinny kid, I think he was a comedian, Chris Stone or something like that? Did he ever do anything after this movie?

And don't get me started with Color Me Badd...

The only brother with a steady gig on prime time is Ice T.

Not that I ever knew anything about Alicea Key's sexuality, (and it doesn't matter to me because I love her music), but what's the deal with Perry wearing dresses all the time? I know that acting is acting, but in this day and age, a man in a dress makes you think that something's a lil suspect.

That's about how I remember it. George Michael was HUGE in the mid to late 80's. From his Wham days in the black leather jackets and tough-boy image to the microshorts in the Wake Me Up video to the absolute smash of the Faith album, he was the biggest thing in music. When Listen Without Prejudice came out, George was still in the closet. He completely worked against his I Want Your Sex image and material, and put out videos without appearing in them.

While he may have been outed beforehand, it wasn't common knowledge that he was gay until the bathroom incident. If you listen to the Older CD, two years before, you hear the pain in his voice and his heart...

(curiously my dad had him pegged as early as 1984, while I told him "no, Dad, you're thinking of Boy George, not George Michael!")

falloff OMG, you're buggin OUT lol

That movie MADE Wesley's career, his stupidity w/ the IRS is another matter...

Mario Van Peebles just directed an episode of Damages, one of the most talked about new shows on TV right now - shocking, considering New Jack & Badass are the only good things he's directed, but he's a successful working director...

Allen Payne has surfaced again (I don't watch, but I'm glad he's working)

Ice T has graced NBC w/ whatever that crime show he's been on forever...

Russell Wong is FINE, wherever he is I wanna see him like NOW

The girl who played Kesha (Vanessa L. Williams) had a good run on Showtime's version of Soul Food (years)

The guy who played DuDuddaMan (Bill something, Nunn?) is always in a movie or on tv (when he's not fuckin' w/ Spike, it's been a while for that I guess)

Christopher Williams ass should have never tried to act, BUT the chick who played his sister (Michael Michelle) is always in something & had a good run on ER a while back.

I just realized your entire post may be in jest b/c of the Chris Rock comments falloff redface

But anyway razz The only one who truly vanished is the chick that was in She's Gotta Have It... even the old dude who shot Nino Brown is still on tv here & there lol

LOL, It started with me seeing Allen Payne in a sitcom on TBS and he's not even the star. I felt bad for the brother. Then I thought about Wesley who proved he could act his ass off and now...now he's doing direct-to-video jams.
Everyone in that movie did so well at first and then just faded away. Except for Chris and Ice. You're right about Michael Michelle, though...

Hopefully Wesley will turn his shit around (if he doesn't go to jail neutral ), he got caught up in that action shit & started coasting. I guess the last worthy thing he did was that HBO flick w/ Sanaa Lathan. He needs to get back to some real shit...

Michael Michelle was also on that Taye Diggs show when he was a lawyer who inherited a baby. That was a cute little show, too bad it didn't last...

The gay thing had been following him from teh beginning, watch Wake Me Before you Go-Go.

however he didn't come out til 98.

he didn't meet Alessando until 91 or 92 after Listen Without Prejudice.

Jan is using an unsourced Wiki article which was probably written after he came out so they could go back and say it was about him being in the closet.

I'm going by what I know and everyone knew he was gay when Listen came out, he just wasn't publicly admitting it. Everyone knew or should have known that song was about 2 things. He was gay before he met Alessando. He didn't just become gay in 91 or 92 lol That's irrelevent

She still has never said anything like "Krucial is my boyfriend. We've been together (blank) years." Journalists and fans have assumed this and she's letting them do so. Earlier in her career, she was denying they were together in intervies and just last year when he released and EP, he denied it on 106 & Park saying they were just close friends and that he was single. She always says, publicly, he is her producer and music partner. The girl is a fucking enigma

Her character in Smokin' Aces wasn't gay. Her partner was gay and in love with her. According to Alicia there was a confrontation scene that was cut out of the movie that solidified her character was straight
