BTW, during the episode, I heard Don mention a UK Soul Train and he joked around that Five Star must be on there all the time and absolute favorites...have you every heard of it, seen it? I saw that part also. No, I wasn't aware of a UK version. I'm from Mississippi, the furthest I've ever been is Texas. Being stuck here on "Gilligan's Island" (once you're here, you're stuck), we don't make enough money to travel very far here in the states, let alone overseas. . . hello vainandy glad you are back into the swing of things after all that has happened to ya!
I remember taping both times back in the day when five star was on the show. if they take it up to like 86 or 87, I want to see the episode with public enemy. but this show was good. I have been taping a lot of them. but have missed some good ones as well. glad you orgers are keeping the soul train aboard because It is almost time for it to jump tracks and come back up to date I believe. Abdul just posted the guests for the next two weeks and they are still old episodes. Everyone thought the new episodes were coming back in September. Well, September will be almost over by then. That's a good sign. Maybe they will continue on with the old ones. Andy is a four letter word.

When those late 80s originally aired, I had stopped watching the show nearly as much as I used to. Take it back to the 70s or early 80s. Andy is a four letter word.

I hear ya! The best episodes are the ones from the 70s.That's when Soul Train was at it's highest point.Back then,we didn't have BET or MTV,so you had to watch Soul Train in order to see your favorite R&B artists. I'd like to see some late-70s episodes with artists like Brothers Johnson,Natalie Cole,Ray Parker Jr. and Raydio,Bootsy Collins,Sun,etc. That's my favorite era for music.

The Village People, where Don asked the Indian if he would like to do the Soul Train Scramble Board. The tribute episodes for The Jacksons and Rick James. Skyy doing "Call Me" and pulling out the telephones. Anything from The Barkays. As much as I love The Barkays, the only thing I have from them on video is from the "Wattstax" DVD. I want some more of their performances. Andy is a four letter word.

LOVED this episode. Both Sheila and Five Star were fantastic. For me those days still seems like yesterday. I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

There are many shows I remember seeing when they originally aired... ***The Brothers Johnson performing "Strawberry Letter #23" on a 1977 or '78 episode. ***Rose Royce doing "Car Wash" and "I Wanna Get Next To You" on a 1977 episode ***The Three Degrees singing "When Will I See You Again" on a 1974 episode ***A Diana Ross tribute episode that aired in 1981 or 82.It was around the time when her song "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" was released. She did a question-and-answer session with the audience.

Bands were becoming a dying breed in the late 80s. yes, and there were a few bands still into around 1984. but there was so much going on in the late seventies to early eighties--war, one way, midnight star, even some one-hit bands. I mean, they are skirting this whole soul train thing aroumd. and I kknow they always recorded four shows per weekend so even though the shows repeat the dance songs a lot, the groups are different. I want to see a couple of episodes with the rappers on them. so I would go to like 84-86. BUT PLEASE GIVE US THE FUNKY BANDS DON!!! oh, and vain you are welcome nipsy
