The song is ok, but it's just too damn 80's sounding  It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

"Crazay" was Jesse Johnson's song he mainly wrote and produced -- he didn't work with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis during his run as a solo artist. I don't where the "cheesy synths" comment came from, because the song is not synth-laden. It sounds like a Sly and The Family Stone-influenced song, which was the purpose of "Crazay." Even in 1986, it was different from the sounds that were popular at the time. At least all the stuff made after like '82 or so. EDIT: No, I wasn't around when this was released. Was it in '86 or? Anyways, I was born in '87 so...

"Crazay" was the lead single from Jesse Johnson's second album, "Shockadelica." It reached No. 2 on the Billboard R&B Singles chart in fall 1986.
I personally don't think most 1980s songs have aged horribly. I would say the ones that are in the initial stages of the digital production age have not fared well because of the mechanical tinkerings. But IMO a lot of Teddy Riley's music (which came in the latter 80s and early 90s) sound more dated than, say, the Steve Arrington-era music Slave made roughly a decade earlier.
