Jacksons Variety SHow I know the Jackson 5 had cartoons and TV specials but did they have a variety show? I've seen videos from a Jacksons TV show in The Late 70s. I assume theyhad their own nonanimated TV series. Working up a purple sweat.

Yeah, the Jacksons ran on CBS for two seasons, 1976 and 1977. It was a replacement dor some show (don't remember). 6 episodes ran each season, I believe. The Jackson 5 Show (cartoon) also ran for two seasons. 1971-1972 and a couple of episodes in 1973, I believe. Also, they had a pilot for a another variety series in late 1972. It was also called The Jackson 5ive Show. [Edited 9/8/07 19:20pm] PRINCE: Always and Forever

They had a pilot that aied in November of 1972 called "The Jackson 5ive Show". The show wasn't picked up the the pilot is easy to find, it's on youtube. PRINCE: Always and Forever

Go to Youtube and type in The Jacksons Variety shows and series of them will come up. They may be corny but at the same time I think they showcase the diversity of the Jacksons, especially Michael.

Yeah, they had a variety show in the 1970s. I remember seeing commercials for it all the time. I think I saw maybe one episode. I was a child so I didn't understand the commercial when it said the time of the show....8 P.M...then they would have 7 P.M. Central in the corner of the screen....not that I knew what that meant anyway. I would turn on the TV at 8 P.M. and the damn show would be ending. I would get mad as hell. I missed a many a "Charlie Brown" specials that way also.
In the early 1980s, WGN showed the Jackson 5 cartoon episodes for a brief moment. I wish I had a VCR back then. Andy is a four letter word.

Cher even had her own variety show after she divorced Sonny. Don't forget Donnie and Marie on Friday nights. In 1980, Marie had her own variety show. I remember she had on Larry Graham one night singing "When We Get Married". Hell, speaking of 1980, don't forget Sha Na Na. They had on Stepahanie Mills one night. I can't remember which song she sang. It was either "Sweet Sensation" or "Never Knew Love Like This Before". They used to always "con" or "trick" a guest into performing on their show. . . That's right, he said that television ruins a music career. Ironically, it would be television that would change his music career forever. Only the stupid are STILL Prince fans.

Considering he owns the Jacksons' master tapes, which why we haven't had remastered or deluxe editions of those albums "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them.
