Bowie- "Heroes" (the album) I love this record, is so fuckin' awesome!! Easily on my top 5 Bowie albums of all time!
The sound is darker, funkier and more robust than the lighter Low; there's a sense of paranoia and bitter sarcasm that shows Bowie at his best. The first half of the record is pure gold: "Beauty and the beast" (funky!), the metallic, mad "Joe the Lion", the larger than life "Heroes" (easily the best Bowie song of all time after "Changes"), the underrated "Sons of the Silent Age" and "Blackout" a great dance number with scary, abstract lyrics. And while the instrumental tracks are not as good as "Warszawa" or "Art Decade", they are amazing nevertheless; "Sense of Doubt" and "Neuköln" are the creepiest things ever released on a pop album; "V-2 Schneider" is a little gem and "Moss Garden" is pure beauty. I have never paid much attention to "The secret life of Arabia", but it's interesting, to say the least. One of the best experimental/pop albums of the 70's. A must have!

Yes! New Wave approved! Great album. The tracks continue in the vein of Bowie's experimental phase with a touch of "Plastic Soul". I can see thousands of New Wave bands drawing reference from this very album.
Oh yes, and "Secret Life of Arabia" is one of the most underrated Blue-Eyed funk jams ever! NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.
