DURAN DURAN'S "NITE RUNNER" IS THE BEST SONG OF 2007 Yes, it is. Deal with it!
After listening to it several times, in perfect cd quality, I came to this startling conclusion. It's a shame that this won't be the first single of "Red Carpet Massacre" ("Falling Down" will be...check the cover below)

GO BRITNEY, GO. Yeah, GO AWAY Britney. I'm really liking the Duran Duran songs as well! I have to wait to hear Mariah's fist single though. Hers may be the hottest of 2007!

Sorry I what I was trying to say is 'GO BRITNEY, GO' I was encouraging her. I think her song is much hotter than Duran Durans, but Skin Divers is good. [Edited 9/4/07 1:03am]

Its not that i have issues with Duran working with other producers, i mean their work with Nile was one of their best, but in this case they are working with a Producer that is not PRODUCING, hes really the artist and someone is singing his track, this time it happens to be Duran Duran. I dont think that working with Timbaland is going to become some sort of a "mainstream" reawakening to Duran Duran, i think Duran is far past that because of their age. Their album tracks are always better than their singles...

It's going to be quite interesting to see how the album and it's singles play out. I love "Nite Runner", and "Falling" is a great song. I like how they let JT and Timbo put their influence yet still sounded like Duran Duran. those two songs alone are definitely fresher than alot of what's on Astronaut. At least this one spices things up a little.
That said, they're gonna have a hard time getting Top 40 airplay. Top 40 has always been about what's "in", and Duran Duran are basically considered old farts, with no disrespect. They'll definitely get AC airplay though. And Top 40 could give the songs airplay. It's possible. Cher, Meatloaf, and a host of others defied the unexpected and scored their biggest hits well into middle age. It's just a hard thing to do. And in Duran Duran's case, I don't know if the top quality of the songs is gonna be enough. Best of luck, though.

For God's sake, their first two albums are the best of their career
By the way, I like the song, but not the production, too mainstream pop:-? [Edited 9/7/07 3:50am]

Once you see them live, you realize they aren't old. They are a great live band and they still look good. (I mean "you" in general.)

Duran Duran has always been a strong Live Band that has gotten better with their age. Im looking forward to the release just because its DD, but the first two songs i have heard with JT and Timbaland make me wish they would not let in outsiders. Isn't Liberty orgasmic? I luuuuuv Liberty and Big Thing. Big Thing is so diverse, it reminds me of a Prince album because it's so deep and eclectic. So many layers and styles. A very mature album, imo. Liberty was written while they were on tour with Big Thing, so it's a very natural progression. Liberty is heavy with awesome keyboard parts from Nick, lots of percussion and electronic drums from Sterling and some great guitar playing from Warren. It's a very different Duran Duran album and lots of die-hard fans don't like it.

Yeah, I don't know if they TRULY wanted to work with them or if they are just trying to get younger fans... They have done funkier and more soulful stuff, like Notorious which was produced by Nile Rodgers.
