5 more days until 50 cent retires! alright! 5 more days until 50 cents retires! He probably won't even outsell Sean Kingston ( we all know SK is terrible). 50 will probably use his vitamin money to buy 10 million of his own cd's just to out due Kanye.

I can't imagine 50 outselling Kanye at this point. First, seems like Fiddy released like half his album as singles and has anything hit? It seems like the only thing from him getting even a little heat is the Ciara duet (which I like) but is off her old album! It's funny how back in the day any old single from 50 would top the charts and nearly all of them sounded the damn same as the ones from the prior album. But I guess that movie and it's under performing soundtrack gave people lots of fatigue.
Hell, I'm sort of interested in Kanye because of the hit and really fun sounding single "Stronger".

From what I heard he retracted the whole statement about retiring and he claims that he was just mouthing off (when isn’t he) I never believed he would retire anyway. He also released a total of six singles that have already flopped and he is receiving little air play, I think there is a lot of pressure on radio to play artist that are more positive, which is a good thing, and that may be part of the reason why artist like Common and Talib Qweli are debuting higher, at least part of the reason.

I just dont understand the whole Debuting at Number one thing anymore and why it really matters. It was cool in the 70's when Elton John became the first artist to ever do it, and then did it again but then it was almost impossible for anyone to do it. But now everyone does it and can do it. To me its more about staying power. But i really would like to see Kenny Chesney beat them both out, and the funny thing is that the following Barry Manilow releases his cd and has a whole bunch of media appearances lined up, so it would be even funnier if Kanye or 50 is knocked out of number one by Barry Manilow. Not because its Barry Manilow, but because its an artist that has been at it 35 years now, i think thats what 50 and Kanye should be looking at, longevity. Well 50cent is doing something at the MTV awards and you know that Kanye will probably make some comment since i believe he is there too. But of course both will be upstaged because Britney Spears makes her return to the stage that night. This indeed true... now he says if Kanye beats him it's because Kanye did a better job or promoting his CD

I just read an article mentioning they will both appear on "106 and Park" on the same day (not at the same time, possibly, though) and it mentions that Kenny Chesney will, shockingly, not be ont he program but has stated he might be number one, which is very likely. Hip-hop's popurlity is declining much faster than of country. Also, I don't know much about Kenny but he strikes me as a Madonna type when it comes to releasing a new record (in fact, I think his last one came out right before COADF)...if he has little to no competition, he's a shoe in for number one. OF course, Kanye and 50 are competitors who both had number one releases. I think it will stack up like this. #1 Kanye #2 Kenny #3 50 #4 Barry Manilow #5 Master P The Master P thing is leap....I know this much...If Fiddy gets outsold by fucking Master P, he won't have to retire himself! Who knows for sure, though. Barry and Kenny could be number one and two, respectively but since Kanye has the hit single, I would be shocked if he doesn't top. If he doesn't, it shows just how much the industry has changed. Here is how the Amazon sales rank (not always the best example of the charts end up, though). Kanye is 4 Kenny is 11 50 is 17 I think I could end up right. Of course, all of them are being outsold by Bruce's CD, which doesn't come out until Oct 5th! High School Musical is 2 and Patti Scialfa, Bruce's wife and hellvu singer (heard her on Letterman and I was shocked how much I was digging her) is 3rd! Those aren't shocking numbers considering the Amazon buying audience, which tends to be slightly older. Also interesting, Annie Lennox is 10 (hers comes out late Oct), and ahead of Kenny and Fiddy! BTW, Barry's doesn't come out until the 18th, so he isn't in that dog fight (and he only ranks 332!) so maybe the comeback is over. Half the album seems to be made up of him redoing his own songs (still, there are 12 "original" covers of the seventies). At the very least, this will be interesting for the music business but the timing is terrible (50 and Interscope can only blame themselves for all the pushbacks, I guess). [Edited 9/6/07 13:39pm]

Apparently there isnt any annimosity between them (and honestly, why should there be?). Seems like this whole sales rivalry is designed to get people talking. And 3 threads later, here we are The 2nd half of Kanye's album is good. Its sounds very..electronic. The 1st half is so-so, but thats just my 2 pennies. [Edited 9/6/07 13:39pm] yeah i know that, i was saying that Kanye or 50cent will hold #1 for a week and then drop 80% of sales and Manilow just based on his fan base and media shows will debut at number one the following week. Manilows album is in 3 formats, regular, dual and a double disc, he does songs from the 70's (like his 60's and 50's cds) and then the bonus disc is him re-doing his most popular from the 70's just him and piano no band.
