Tamia performing LIVE.....

It has been said that Tamia never blew up because she doesn't have the 'IT' factor. I am not sure if that's the reason, but I do know that she can sing like nobodys business. She is definitely underrated. Here are a few clips of Tamia singing live.

I don’t even have to check those clips out (but I definitely will). My interest in her was reignited when I heard her sing live to basically any song that was asked of her. Hits, covers, whatever. She had her pianist/songwriter friend—I forget his name but he did Stranger In My House—and he accompanied her on the songs and I was really impressed. I especially like her rendition of Been So Long by Anita Baker.

Her pianist/songwriter/producer's name is Shep Crawford, who happens to be my cousin...lol He's on the clips that I posted.

What show was that on?

Get out? lol That's great. I believe it was the Steve Harvey Morning Show a few months ago. She was a really wonderful guest.

I'm not a big Tamia fan, but she can definitely sing. I liked the stuff she did with Quincy Jones and a few of her albums, but I don't consider myself to be a fan.

I heard Jawn Murray discuss her on the Tom Joyner show a few months ago. He talked about how she was happy to leave Warner's and do an independent project. He said that she may not be selling millions of records, but she is banking millions. I believe her latest album is almost gold and had already made almost $2 million with little to no promotion. Not a bad deal.

omfg shocked omfg I heard that EXACT interview via an incidental search on youtube ( I was looking for Steve Harvey stand-up clips lol) . In the words of Steve Harvey quoting a saying from his dearly departed Aint Odell,

THAT. HEFFA. CAN. SANG.

lol lol lol

She really WAS wonderful. I had to bust out and get her last record (and I haven't been into Tamia since the song with Eric Benet)!

lol I know I had to dig through my collection to see what I had and didn't have and put a compilation together. I’m missing a couple of favored tracks that I’ll have to eventually get though. I wish she would re-record Been So Long though.

When I first heard Missing You I didn’t like it that much. But it grew on me, especially the oooh, can’t nobody do me like you.

Always Can’t Get Enough. That’s a sexy song right there.

I've always liked Officially Missing You.

Can't Get Enough had to grow on me. I love it now, especially after hearing her sing it live.

EXAAAACT-LEE...perfect pitch, great usage of dynamics...just straight ahead old skool r&b style talent nod. I miss that with this new crop of children running around, dragging us through all their mellisma exercises till our ears BLEED lol.....

Anyway, here's one for the road: I'm going out and I was listening to her sing this while I put on my "goin'out" make-up. It's another one from that session called "My Last First Kiss". If you're not already in love at the moment listening to this might make you want to just grab somebody- ANYBODY, and start feeling all 'lovey-dovey-sexy' I was listening to this walking down the street one day and almost grabbed a toothless old bum just so i could ser-e-naaade him with this sexy

...alright, I'm lying, but STILL...

Cool! Tamia, along with deborah cox are my favorite female singers. Will shep be doing some more work with deborah. He worked with her on the morning after and one wish cd's. Tamia is awesome. You just listen to her voice and you are like damn, this is how it's done. She is very underrated. Her videos are very sexy too. It makes me want to just lick her up like a biscuit and sop her in some wet gravy. biggrin

I like Deborah Cox too. The U.S. seems fickle when it comes to the Canadian girls. Oh, Canada...

Tamia will get naked in a video in a minute. Sometimes I'm a little surprised by her, uh, lack of attire especially since I thought her mother-in-law was her stylist. smile
