One of my favorite Cameo jams is "Be Yourself" from their 1982 "Alligator Woman" album. From the very first note of this song, it is funky as hell. The funky hand claps, the breakdown, the whole wildness of the jam. Pure funk perfection! Give it up dammitt.

This is one of my favorite cameo jams as well too. Just plain badass stankin funk. Watching the video reminds me of a vhs tape i used to rent from my local video store of cameo videos. It contained videos from the cameosis and alligator woman album. The band shot the videos for be yourself, flirt, and alligator woman all in the same studio. The guys didn't even change clothes or wash their asses, no wonder the music was stankin.

Damn, those was a Cameo VHS for rent? I never saw that in my area. I never would have dreamed a band as "black" as Cameo would have an official video collection for rent or for sale. It's usually only the crossover black artists. I'm going to keep my eyes open wide now because I would love to have that.

In the early 80s,funk and R&B artists/bands didn't have a big budget for their videos so in many cases,they shot several videos the same day,in the same location.Look at Prince's videos for "Dirty Mind" and "Uptown",or Evelyn King's videos for "Love Come Down" and "Betcha She Don't Love You".
