Please dedicate something to my mother who passed away yesterday.

Yesterday was definately the saddest day of my life when I received the phone call that my mother had passed away. After two and a half months of being in hospitals and nursing homes, she finally is at peace and out of the constant suffering she has been experiencing.

The funeral is tomorrow morning and I am so glad I was able to talk my sister and brother into letting me choose two songs to be played at her funeral to give it some sort of personalization. We will be playing "Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday" by G.C. Cameron and "Jesus Is Love" by The Commodores. The funeral home's organist will also be playing "Amazing Grace" and we told her to play whatever she felt appropriate for the other song.

Since I had to record the two songs onto CD this evening, I continued recording on the CD so we would have some music for the get-together at home after the funeral. Here is what I have come up with....

Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday - G.C. Cameron
Jesus Is Love - The Commodores
Do Not Pass Me By - MC Hammer
A Man Called Jesus - Mavis Staples
Thunder - Prince
Spirit In The Sky - ? (a pop/rock song from the 1970s that I recorded off the radio)
I'll Take You There - The Staple Singers
Put Your Hands Together - The O'Jays
Sing Hallelujah - ? (a house music song I recorded off cable radio years ago)
Carry On - Martha Wash
I Want To Know What Love Is - Foreigner
I Miss You - Klymaxx
Memory Lane - Minnie Riperton
Jesus Is Just Alright - The Doobie Brothers
Heaven - Prince

Since the org is kinda like an extended family, please dedicate something to my newly departed mother, Ann.
Andy is a four letter word.

For the lyric, more than the song:

Nikki Leonti - Til I See You Again

I don't want to let you go
I don't want to say goodbye
But the road has led us here to this divide
Nothing I can say or do
Can make it any other way
But the promise of forever knows no time or space
And out there in the somewhere I will pray
And speak your name every day to Heaven

CHORUS:
Now go shine like a star
Knowing our hearts can never really be apart
Fly as high as you can
And it won't be long
Till I see you again

Pain is part of love they say
And now I know what they mean
But I wouldn't trade this heartache for our memories
Or the time I held you close
I'm one of the lucky few
And my heart is so much larger now because of you
With every breath and every step I take
I'm closer to seeing you again

CHORUS

What is meant to be is such a mystery
And mysteries aren't meant to understand
The hardest part of love has got to be
Leaving it in bigger hands
Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

I am sorry for your loss. May your mother rest in peace.

I can't think of an appriopriate song for such an occassion, although I wanted to say One Day We'll All Be Free by Donny Hathaway, but I am not quite sure it is appriopriate enough.

I am very sorry for your loss.

Here is a wonderful song Bruce Springsteen wrote for his mother - "The Wish"

Dirty old street all slushed up in the rain and snow
Little boy and his ma shivering outside a rundown music store window
That night on top of a Christmas tree shines one beautiful star
And lying underneath a brand-new Japanese guitar

I remember in the morning, ma, hearing your alarm clock ring
I'd lie in bed and listen to you gettin' ready for work
The sound of your makeup case on the sink
And the ladies at the office, all lipstick, perfume and rustlin' skirts
And how proud and happy you always looked walking home from work

If pa's eyes were windows into a world so deadly and true
You couldn't stop me from looking but you kept me from crawlin' through
And if it's a funny old world, mama, where a little boy's wishes come true
Well I got a few in my pocket and a special one just for you

It ain't no phone call on Sunday, flowers or a mother's day card
It ain't no house on a hill with a garden and a nice little yard
I got my hot rod down on Bond Street, I'm older but you'll know me in a glance
We'll find us a little rock 'n roll bar and baby we'll go out and dance

Well it was me in my Beatle boots, you in pink curlers and matador pants
Pullin' me up on the couch to do the twist for my uncles and aunts
Well I found a girl of my own now, ma, I popped the question on your birthday
She stood waiting on the front porch while you were telling me to get out there
And say what it was that I had to say

Last night we all sat around laughing at the things that guitar brought us
And I layed awake thinking 'bout the other things it's brought us
Well tonight I'm takin's requests here in the kitchen
This one's for you, ma, let me come right out and say it
It's overdue, but baby, if you're looking for a sad song, well I ain't gonna play it

Well, Sweetie, unfortunately all the songs I wanted to deicate have already been suggested, with the exception of a duet between Yolanda Adams and Crystal Lewis, "This Too Shall Pass". In this difficult time, do know that in addition to our condolences, many of us also give thanks, that you are here with us on the org to share your sparkling humour and unflappable wit, often putting many a giggle in our days and a chuckle in our hearts. All our best wishes for you...
